I had the good fortune to watch the game on my laptop at 2.45 in my office.

I am a life-long Blade and I have to say that the performance, overall, was one of the worst I have ever seen. I am amazed at the rhetoric about we were unlucky. After our goal, we were completely and utterly outplayed by a team that played fast and to feet.

There were so many open players from their back four to our penalty area that it was just a matter of time before we lost that game.

There was no midfield. A game is won and lost in midfield and Swindon completely destroyed us in the second half. Why that wasn't changed is beyond me. I live in rural Ohio and I can tell you there was just as much space in the United midfield as I can see with farmland from my office window.

That was a disastrous performance and there was no positives to take from the game whatsoever.

I was a goalkeeper: Howard made a very basic mistake on the second and crucial goal. From that distance, a goalie MOVES his body to the ball and not try to make a save from a standing position.

A very disappointed Toledo.

Spot on mate, absolutely spot on.

Like many others, I saw lots of positives. Imagine if Davies had made a better connection with his header, Done's goal had been allowed to stand and we'd been given a pen for the handball. Once again we were very unlucy last night against very good opposition. Certainly nowhere near the worst Blades performances I have seen.

Amazed how many people have given up and are calling for Clough's head now when we trail by a single goal with everything to play for

Are we not a league one team, Swindon last night played with 2 Southampton defenders, a Totenham player a Wolves player and brought on a Chelsea player. Maybe if we had 4 premier league players and a cracking Wolves player we might have looked as good as them with the slick passing and movement. We haven't and still made them look average for 50% of the game.

It just shows how many different takes on a match we can have, opinions can be possative or negative I'm sure some fans don't give a dam what the performance was like, I for one thought we gave a good showing at times, we just lost our way a little especially when we lost Brayford.

We had 60% of the game.
Won on split decision

I reckon you are right .
Anybody who wants shut of the Beard ain't all there

you have to,cut your cloth accordingly, we need 4 or 5 quality (at this level) players in the summer, Jim more or less said no more investment until the Championship so we will need the money from somewhere, the only two players worth anything are Murphy and Brayford, You build teams around creative players, not full backs.

Freeman is good enough at this level anyway.

All the right buzz words 'life-long Blade', 'the performance, overall, was one of the worst I have seen'....so why is it unconvincing and have a hollow ring?

If that really was one of the worst performances you've seen by a United team then I can only assume they must number on no more than the fingers of two hands at most.

The fact that you omitted to mention the penalty claim plus the disallowed goal, did you miss those two vital moments in the game? As for being a goalie, sorry, but that doesn't mean you're qualified to critique as if you know what you're talking about. I happen to agree that Howard should have done better, but using any previous experience as a goalie to validate your opinion is just another feeble attempt to hide the fact that you either watched part of the game, another game completely, or you may support another team altogether. But our performance, although clearly lacking when it mattered, wasn't as disastrous as you say. Say all you like, it just wasn't.

Good enough has got us in this position

Whereas spending £1.8m on full back, and then not playing him at full back, has gone really well.
We needed Centre Back and Centre Mid sorting out. No CB signed and players worse than what we had in CM signed.

If Clough was to be fired maybe Brayford will want to go? It's no secret he came here to play for Clough

How dare you! don't you know John Brayford loves SUFC, it is engraved on his heart...

He'd do anything for us.....

...Whilst we are paying him ten grand a week anyway.

You and the Clough clappers are the joke, Everything in Toledo's post was 100% correct overrun and outplayed for the vast majority of the game,

Everyone who says otherwise is lying.
Don't you ever read your posts back and get embarrassed ,because you should. Most of them actually.

Everything in Toledos post about the match was 100% correct. No one can can deny It. Outplayed for 75% of the game a fair reflection on the play and chances would have been about 7-3 to Swindon.

No one can deny it? So a categorical, unqualified, statement that says that the OP has probably never seen a worse game is to be believed? Unfortunately, something like that comment does tend to devalue his other comments. Overkill does tend disqualify most strident rhetoric, a pity the OP didn't take note of this fact when attempting to give his rather misinformed perspective.

Don't forget to add Peter Beagrie , Darren Ferguson and everyone else who knows about football. No listen to an attention seeker who has never said a good word about the club he supposed to support in his life. Hes either a bitter pig ,an attention seeker or really doesnt have the first idea about football. Perm 2 out of 3 for me.

forget that we gave away a penalty that was saved.

To say that we were unlucky is a complete distortion of what really happened in the game.

We were the home team, 1-0 up in the playoffs, and we lost in injury time.

Enoughf said, that was a terrible performance for home playoff game.

The performance wasn't as bad as you describe, the result was what depressed supporters. We lack quality throughout the team, but not as much as some might imagine. Clough's acquisition of Done, which initially was met with underwhelming noises on here, has proved a masterstroke. Done is unlike most players I've seen mainly because he seems to be pumped up with vigour and a superb engine, plus he has that lucky knack of being able to turn a half-chance into a goal. Add to that a couple of better than average center halves, a stronger, taller, midfield (with Bash of course), and someone (not Baxter) with an eye for a pass who has guile. That'll make the difference.

Just one question, where is the money coming from for these "extra players" we need? The way I read the interview with Phipps the other week is that after the January spending this is the squad the manger wanted and will be working with next season. Further money would be released if we were in The Championship but that is looking unlikely at the moment.

Don't misunderstand za, but as I'm not party to United finances or what communications happen behind the scenes, as I wasn't last season or the season before that, so I've no answer to your question. I offered something that I feel may help us move forward. If it happens, great, if it doesn't we'll see what happens.

I know. It's just I read a lot of people on these forums saying we need a new keeper, new centre backs, new centre mid, new striker in the summer, I think some people think there is going to be another January style splurge in the summer, well there isn't, a lot is going to be riding on people like Harrison Magahey, Louis Reed and Che Adams stepping up in their development next season, and crossing fingers that James Wallace is finally going to be fit enough to play a part.

Jim Phipps, with respect, you cannot look at the selection, the substitutions or the film and conclude we were negative; on the contrary. I do not think the lads let us down at all. I think they played their hearts out for us, but played uphill opposite not only Swindon, but a biased, incompetent and/or dangerous official, who reversed himself on a crap penalty after awarding a crap penalty to Swndon, failed to award us two additional penalties (one, a-clear-as-day, arm's-up handball blocking a shot on goal in the box, and the other, a very dangerous, ejection-worthy, two-footed challenge on Flynn as he took a shot on goal in the box), disallowed a goal without explanation, and called back balls for free kicks when we had made 40+ to 50+ meters of forward progress and were in scoring position. It is true we should not have allowed either goal in against us, but we should have been up a number of goals and playing against 10 men by the time their last goal went in. There is nothing delusional about believing in our side come Monday. There is very little chance lightening will strike twice with referee selections. Swindon were not so great in my eyes. We can do this. UTB!!!

Ejection worthy ?

:D:D:D:D

Ok my take on those incidents was the handball was a deffo penalty, the penalty he gave Swindon was also deffo a pen.

Didn't see the Flynn one as I was following the ball and haven't seen it on TV since. I have seen the Done "goal" a few times and taking my red and white glasses off I think 7 out of 10 refs would also have given a foul.

The pulling back of the play when Done was through was the biggest howler, on the other hand he ignored a blatant trip by Davies on their guy carrying the ball forward which would have been a yellow card if Davies hadn't already been booked.

Not a great ref but it's streatching it a bit to blame him for the defeat, continuing to be inept at defending corners and surrendering territory and possesion had more to do with it.
