No, not a thread about a poorly conceived terrace chant for Jamal but I was talking with Ken Junior earlier and it still perplexes us why JCR got shipped out to Notts County and hasn't had a look in the first team squad when we desperately needed some pace and width - especially when you consider;

1. Murphy has looked jaded and low on energy during the last third of the season
2. Flynn has been injured for much of the time - effective when fit but not available anywhere near enough
3. Coutts has been stuck out there to offer some service (but offered nothing when played wide)
4. At West Ham he was terrific and always posed a threat
5. At QPR he was one of the key reasons for the 3-0 win
6. For the home league game vs Preston he was equally impressive and influential

Now I know his crossing isn't the best - he wouldn't be in our division if it was - but he makes stuff happen, he's an outlet and he can relieve any pressure with a pacey run down the flank. He makes us a better counter attacking unit when he plays and offers something different that the opposition has to counter, so when both he and Murphy play they cannot double up on both of them.

He can also chip in with a few crucial goals, as well - he is a genuine threat, of which we have little in this squad.

Just a thought to throw into the mix and a reason why we have been so stale and predictable of late.

I believe that we would have a far greater chance of getting through the Play-Offs with JCR either starting or coming on to alter the game than without him.

If he is fit I would certainly like to see him on the bench - especially for the second leg at Swindon !

I agree with all that great entertainer one of the few plus points this year.
Why did he ship him out???

Would love to see him in as an option but I have been led to believe there are non football reasons for his predicament.

Can't argue with that. His form was very ordinary when he left, but I'd have recalled him for the run in at he very least.

Just a thought Ken, but it was apparently JCR's decision to go as he was far from guaranteed a first team slot.

I don't blame JCR for wanting first team games at his age, but he's not the most consistent performer.

I think he's definately got something to offer...teams are scared of his pace and 2 wingers could be effective against Swindon who play with a back 3,although could end up being a back 5 if they're worried about his pace in behind. He's a bit hit and miss, but on his day can be a real handful...if Freeman plays Right Back,I remember they played together at Notts County...remember seeing them play well together at Meadow Lane for County a couple of seasons ago when we lost 2-1.

That would seriously piss me off, Sitters, if that's the case. Can't imagine why he would have got into such a situation but it beggars belief that adults can't get to a resolution without cutting noses off to spite faces.

I said it at the time, J C-R and Done were made for each other. Maybe Clough will eventually re-unite them...

Maybe Swizzers, but that goes against what sitwell has intimated - i.e. non-footballing reasons.

And the award for Sheffield United's most consistent performer for season 2014-15 goes to................................................................:tumbleweed:

Most consistent has probably been Doyle, baxter, harris or Murphy.

Nothing to do with Clough or the management btw

Intriguing, tell us more.

Like JCR at this level but he didn't do much good for Notts C. According to Wiki only made 3 appearances for them. Good impact and worth a place on the bench especially if Done is done.

He's been injured for some of his time there.

WTF? Don't get it. He's been shipped out from being a bit part player in Sheffield to a bit part player elsewhere because of what? Can't find his way round Sheffield? Allergic to the water here? Altitude sickness?

He would be handy to have in your team if your striker was 19 ft tall and hung around near the hot dog stand on the back of the kop

James Shield tweeted a few weeks ago (before the Yeovil game I think) that there were personal reasons for JCR's loan and it wasn't lack of first team football, but when pressed on it he wouldn't expand on his comments.

Guessing he has family down in Notts that he may need to be closer to?

Probably not fair to be guessing anyway...just look at what's been going off in Rio Ferdinands life - sometimes you'd never know or need to know.

My first thought too.
Probably not something we should be prying in to or slagging Clough off for.

A player who could make the difference definitely .

Rio has had unremitting stick from many fans and journalists this season. I hope they feel ashamed of themselves now.

I think alot of things that Rio has come out with should not be "acceptable conduct" just because your missus is ill.... in fact quite the opposite. therefore the stick he gets for it was justified... the only unjustified stick would be comments made against his wife etc.

Fair play. I meant the stick he has received for his performances, though goodness knows how most of us would cope with a terminally ill partner and three young children, on or off a football pitch.

"Just because your missus is ill" doesn't really capture it, for me. These are extreme circumstances. Who are any of us to judge whether he has coped with this appropriately, in terms of what he's said, how's he played, or anything ? A man in despair is a man in despair. Not sure it's really anyone else's place to criticise.
