Why is it always freezing when we play there?

That last one was Speed's final game with us if memory serves.

Probably told this story before but I can remember when we played there many years ago on one of those freezing winter midweek nights and just after half-time a lad walked past the Blades fans with a tray of pies. He'd gone pretty much all the way past when a bloke shouted "Oi, as tha got any pies left ?". The poor lad trudged back slowly all the way back down and as he reached the guy, his follow-up was 'Well tha shouldn't 'av med so many then'

That comment reminds me that's exactly what I was saying last September and into October - we'd give somebody a good hiding one day. Back then who would have believed we'd be going into today's game in such poor shape? The poor performances have gone on and on and on.

We couldn't possibly win today .....could we? Maybe if I back Barnsley we'll win. Tell you what I'll invest all the money I'm saving by us not going today, say £100 on the Barnsley win at 23/10.

Disloyal? Best way of United avoiding defeat !! Must say it does look a good bet though.

That's a good call. I was only going to back Crewe with the same logic, but decided that it was throwing away money. The Turf Accountants don't shake with fear when I walk in. Interesting though that the bookies have it so much closer than we. They probably as much in the dark about which Blades team will turn up as the rest of us.
