Today's one game wonder

He played more than a handful number of games for us during the 1975-76 season before having his leg broken in the 4-0 defeat at Man City in March. Dont think he played a competitive game for us again after that

He used to lodge along the road from us in Frecheville, and was seen as the successor to Woodward. It wasn't a broken leg, it was his knee cap, and it did indeed go again shortly after his comeback, finishing his career.

Don't care! :)

:)

He came on as sub in the 4-1 defeat at Gillingham on 14/4/01. I believe we were 3-0 down at HT and he came on then and we stuck him up front to little or no effect.

Wasn't he meant to be a right back?!

Who was the United player who kept hitting the post one season ,it became almost freakish.

Peter Hetherston. He went back to Scotland because he was homesick. He had that problem when at Watford so it was thought his move up to Sheffield would be easier for him but it didnt work out

Martin Dickinson - I think that's when he was at West Brom, but he also played for the Dirties!

You beat Silent to it...

We signed him on a free from WBA in summer 88 and he came on as sub in the 4-1 win at Brentford on 24/9/88. Shortly after that he was involved in a car crash, never played again and was released in summer 89.

I remember him at Leeds. Quite a cultured centre-back who could play a bit.

Paul Nugent - appeared in the 75-6 squad photo but never played for the first team...
Roy Hill is also in the 1975-76 pre season photo. Never played a first team match for us before moving to Wendy. Dont think he played a 1st team game for them too

Didn't we have a similar conversation about Alan Whittle in the 'failed medicals' thread?
Yes, he is on the far right of the front row. The photo must have been taken while the club was waiting for the results of his medical test!
