I wasn't convinced when we signed him, and yes he might have had his good games, but he's not a CB! He's slow, nervous and clumsy. We won't make automatic with him in the team and he will no doubt give seven penalties away in the play offs.

Tel should be a regular in J Macs place. He's really uncomfortable to watch.when he burst into PNE half you knew the shots would be miles off

I think he's done OK, with the exception of a few recent mistakes which have cost us. He does worry me when he tries to do too much with the ball at the edge of our area, he usually gets away with it but you know he's got a mistake in him and at CH you are going to get punished.

Give Tel a few more games

McEveley's composure and ability on the ball is outstanding for a centre half. He's not slow. Both him and Basham try to be ball playing centre halves, and there will be a risk connected to that. Personally I think Basham is slightly the more error prone of the two, but think it's a partnership worth sticking with. With Kennedy ready to come in when needed, and McGahey as well, I think we're ok at centre half. There are times when we miss Maguire's size and strength though.

We may need to look more into the protection in front of them though.

I agree Bergen regarding the protection, Doyle has been generally good since his sending off last season, however I think his legs are slowing down which is allowing more pressure onto the two CH's. Having said that we do seem to miss him when he's not playing.

At first I was speechless when I read this.

I would have to assume that you know something about football as you're posting on here. If I give you that by default I am then reduced to the assumption that you've watched one game in the last twenty.

Interesting thoughts Bergen. I would personally try McGahey and McEveley at centre half. I really like young McGahey. He's nowhere near the finished article and makes a few mistakes but he's got so much potential. Needs to play to learn.

Totally agree JMc has been outstanding most of the season. I would like Kennedy as his partner and the protection in front to be Basham who should be Doyles replacement.

If i could like this twice, I would.

I wasn't convinced when we signed him either. But he's been outstanding in the last few months. He's strong, good in the air, clever, good on the ball, great positionally and calm under pressure. What else do you expect? Add in he's looked comfortable against Spurs and QPR, taking away one mistake for a pen that could have happened to anyone. Him and Basham are quality at this level.

Purely out of interest, have you ever played at the back? This question isn't to be confused with taking aim at your credibility by the way, you're as entitled to your opinion as I am to mine!

Already at the club, Terry Kennedy

He's come on leaps & bounds in the past twelve months & now it's his time to make a starter spot his own

Agree Kennedy has come on leaps and bounds over the past 12 months but as Clough said because of his knee issues he struggles to play Tuesday-Saturday week out. At this point of the season we have mid week games most weeks so can he be our 1st/2nd choice centre back.

If fully fit he certainly can but think he might needs a good preseason strengthening his knee to allow him to play 2 games a week.

Bash is a poor mans jagz for me. Got to be him and Kennedy

We wouldn't make automatic if we replaced him with Thiago Silva

I find it staggering to believe that ANYBODY (including NC ) is still uttering "automatic promotion" and SUFC in the same sentence. What on earth have people been doing for the last 3 months whilst we sleep walked into 3rd division obscurity and steadfastly refused to buy a quality striker.

I'm going for a lay down with a cold drink ........
UTB & FTP

recently j mac has made a few crucial mistakes, but overall i think hes been quality this season, give the lad a break
If we were sailing away with the league we could afford the luxury of a few mistakes here and there. In our position mistakes could cost us promotion so we must tighten up at the back.

Personally myself I would sign Paul Huntington from Preston. Looked outstanding other night and correct me if I'm right scored from the corner?

He's not a scapegoat he's a nervous goat.

Literally makes me shit bricks every time he gets the ball because you never quite know if he's going to f*ck up.

He's an anomaly because he can look like a top centre-half at times...

Ok so maybe I was a little too quick to send him straight to the guillotine, but he just frustrates me!

Yes he has been by an large a good player at CB but he just doesn't fill me with confidence in what I believe to be one of the most important positions on the field. Much in the same way David James was good at Liverpool but every so often he would just throw it in his own net.

Don't get me wrong, I don't claim to go to every game, I live in Leeds (unfortunately) and work Saturdays so I go to as many as time allows me to. I do however make sure I watch all the highlights and he just seems to make far too many mistakes.

Also I just think we need 2 out and out CB's much like we did last season in maguire and Collins.

Seen as though we aren't setting the league alight and every game seems to be a close affair with usually the one goal taking I just think we can do without an error-prone player in such a key position.
