How bad are Spurs?

Agreed. That said, I had to smile when Kane in the last 5 mins twice took the ball to hold in the corner. They definitely had a fright those last 10 minutes, but over the two legs their quality beat our graft.

Be nice to see more of Kane in the England team. Quality player.

Morning after the night before I think my OP was a bit OTT in truth, but I still think Spurs have too many ordinary players earning too much money and one or two would have to work a lot harder and smarter to play in a Clough team. As daft as that sounds it is probably true! There's nothing worse than players thinking they are class acts when they aren't

It came right for them in the end but we were a little bobble away from Wembley.

I'd have Harry Kane and Eriksen in our side. Not sure their right back is better than Brayford though. He might do as a back-up. ;)

People have been saying we are rubbish since Harry left.

We are just lucky that there are usually 86 teams worse than us in the football league.

I know from personal experience that good football is played outside the Prem. I watch a fair amount of non-league football and even teams at that level try and play a bit and don't just play industrially.

I fully expected United to give it a good go over the course of the tie.

Small Margins - thats what we are talking about !
No doubt about it Spurs are the best team I have seen at the Lane for several seasons - they dominated for large parts of the game !
They were looking comfortable until the double salvo from Che Adams - then we were in the ascendancy - Only to be unlocked in the end by another quality finish !
If only Reeds shot had crept under the bar or Murphy managed to find the net in the early minutes it may have been different - however we gave a fantastic account of ourselves and with that kind of performance there is nothing to fear from any team in the Third Division!
With Brayford back in the ranks, Coutts and Freeman and one other ??? on that showing Onwards and Upwards !!!
WWF - Sour Grapes are for poor losers Hold your head up and be proud We ran them mighty close - Not bad for a team playing week in week out in the Third Division

We lost to a far better side with some quality players. But we weren't disgraced by our team of bargain basement midgets. Not by a long way. Spurs should have put the match to bed in the first half, it's testament to our management and players that we nearly nicked it.

Lets be honest WWF you hit the bottle too hard last night. Happens to the best of us :)

Come on lets be honest, Listers blather apart the Spurs fans on here have been about the best opposition fans I have seen on the boards. Their team showed how much it meant to them last night when they celebrated at the end. We pushed them bloody hard and they were thankful in the end to get over the line. We should be proud of what our team did when it cost next to fuck all. But Spurs team, manager and fans (in the main) have been a class apart compared to the arrogant, jumped up Premieship wankstains we normally get patronising us. I think we have been paid the right amount of respect from all for what we have achieved.

Well done to Spurs, their fans and Manager I hope you win in the final because I loathe plastics like Chelsea.

This thread is embarrassing, spurs looked class to me and I took it as a sign of what we are capable of that we took them close

Now onwards and upwards in the league im actually rrally excited about saturday,.
Wish I was going was offered s free ticket but cant get
Me very sad

Sometimes you really should think before you post. Your original o/p was frankly one of the worst you've posted (amongst several questionable candidates) since you've regaled us with your profound knowledge of the game.
Obviously a bloke of advancing years, I'd have thought you might display a tad more measure ( a bit like that Pochitieno bloke)
Spurs simply outclassed us for 70% of the game, we made the most of our 30% window and on the whole did us proud.
MoM for us - Flynn & Harris, Adams for his two goals.

The grapes are very sour.

You gave it the big UN and promised us an atmosphere lilke no other.
But you only sang when you were winning or had a chance.

Piss poor to be fair.

Time to crawl back under the league 1 stone.

Ooooh, what a peevish, niggly nob of a post. Nothing gracious about your thoughts, uh 'mate'?

If I were to adopt the same childlike perspective I might be willing to say, all that money spent and yet you looked a long, long way from being England's finest.
You've got several good players, but as a whole? Nah, still work in progress. You have all the same problems as most teams, for fuck's sake, even your keeper wants away, so please don't use SUFC as a stick to beat your own uptight view of supposedly lesser teams.

Just ignore that embarrassment of a Spurs fan on page one, I guess it's an unfortunate side effect of reasonable success to get some true morons into the fan base. I'd just like to say though what a great game, really had us on the ropes for a bit there, though with Eriksen on the team there was never anything to worry about! Also interesting to see yet again the gulf in quality between the leagues is not nearly as much as the media lot would have us believe but it is still those moments of class that make the difference.

Really great tie though and I hope firstly you smash plastic United and get the promotion you deserve.

I thought Spurs were a lot better side than us, and they should be with the money they spend, compared to what we did. I knew all along we would have to be at the very top of our game to get anything from these 2 games, and we gave it everything. The only reasons we are out are a daft penalty, world class free-kick and a goal on the break when we was throwing the kitchen sink at Spurs.

Be proud Blades, be very proud.

Spurs should also be proud as there isn't many teams who could have withstood what we threw at them

We should just take last night for what it was - a right good old ding dong of a cup match.

Spurs had undoubted quality - especially in Kane and Eriksen, we had that magical 15/20 minute spell that we'd been waiting for during the course of the two legs and they were well and truly on the ropes. It just wasn't enough and the class of the afore mentioned players rose to the task at the key moment for them.

I have no bad words to say about Tottenham and no negatives about how we went about things. I think Spurs fans will acknowledge that we are too good to be where we are, and we can acknowledge that they had a bit more class on the pitch when and where it mattered.

I do have a big sense of disappointment but its not so much for the fact we failed to get to the final, its the fact (for the time being at least) we wont be getting to see the best of our team - because we don't seem to produce it in the league. Fingers crossed that changes.

2-0 down to a team who play two divisions above and the Europa League. We're 8th in League 1. When the free kick went in you can forgive the fans for being quiet. We were knocked for 6. It was game over, no way on earth we could get back into it.

Your claim we didn't sing until we were winning is utter bollocks. We sang until we went behind on the night as stated above, we were shell shocked and rightly so.

Did you not see the standing ovation from the home ends when Eriksen's 2nd went in? Take it you didn't see us singing the team off the pitch and applauding your overpaid players??
No? Thought not.

Your fans wouldn't have applauded our team if our 3rd goal had gone in.

Hurry along back to 6th place mediocracy mate. Top four is just a Pipedream for you lot. There's a much better club in North London that show you how its done every year.... Without fail.

Good luck vs. Chelsea.

Don't bite, he's been the exception from these Spurs fans who've generally been decent.

Bit like we did with eight minutes to go against Crawley? ;) Even the best fighters use the ropes to get a breather!

I must admit to thinking is our right back as good as Brayford. I thought Flynn was excellent.

Again, respect to Spurs for limiting us to those few minutes we had when we were on top. As a 90 minutes, it wasn't as good as Charlton or Southampton and that's why the crowd didn't live up to the 'White Hot Lane' reputation for so long. The crowd and the team were apprehensive, knowing that, in the blink of an eye, Spurs could have raced away.

We didn't capitualate. We 'bent with the wind' and, if nothing else, a draw preserves NCs remarkable Cup record (which I can't be bothered to look up, but is it something like 2 losses in 20? FA & Capital only, not fucking JPT).

It wasn't an involuntary handball, it was deliberate. Handball is the only rule which has to be deliberate.

Is this really the case? Because it certainly didn't used to be. A foul had to be deliberate to be a foul, sadly since Colina decided that football shouldn't be a contact sport, accidental contact is interpreted as a foul in the box but I didn't think they re-wrote the law on it?

Similarly off-side, again the the interpretation has in effect changed but the law always was 'seeking to gain an advantage by being in an offside position' and again, I didn't know that had changed.

So generally all misdemeanours had to be deliberate otherwise they weren't against the rules of the game has this actually changed recently?

Genuine question because I don't know as much about the laws of Football as I did when I played it.

That's better, thanks Spurs1882.

As you so rightly stated, what does it cost anyone to be polite in any post? I think most Blades expected a bit of a prize-fight atmosphere, but compared to us you had several aces in your pack, add to that your physicality compared to Charles Atlas-lite players we have and it wasn't entirely surprising that you won.

Good luck against Chelsea, it'll be a tough game, but I hope you manage to win. UTB

Re the OP - we're actually 9th :(

Spurs were bossing us first half - we got very little going but that was always the plan, I guess - it might have been so very different had Murphy lifted that shot slightly instead of daisy cutting it. Che showed him what to do for the second - can you imagine the atmosphere if that had gone in after 10 mins?

I totally agree, the standard of football in the lower leagues has vastly improved over the last few years. Was brought home to me the other week watching Cambridge taking on Man Utd. Don't think you will find too many on here arguing that Spurs aren't a class team, yes we gave you a bit of a fright but overall you deserved the victory much as it pains me to say it.
