All this talk of signing 'the Beard' got me thinking of other players who we had on loan and then signed at a later date (i.e. not signing immediately after a loan period finished)

I'm useless at remembering players after the 1970s, I can only think of Jon Harley and Neil Collins. Any others?

You have just reminded my of a certain Luke Beckett, who scored loads for Stockport (?) but scored either 0 or 1 for us in a 1 year stay and then he disappeared into the footballing wilderness

We signed him direct from palace in Nov 02.

That'll be Phil Starbuck. We actually signed him from Huddersfield where he scored a hatful. We soon loaned him out though as , as you say, was'nt very good for us.
