What about a Pulp track? There is one that mentions 'Sheffield' in its title.
Also think that Speedy 'Boy Wonder' would be good.
I started going in'79 and it was Ilkley Moor...

Why don't we just run out without any music , like we used to do . It does not make aputh of difference how we play does it.

Star wars has been naff for ages and what it has to do with us running onto pitch is a mystery. Many more apt tunes from"Cocker" , be it Joe or Jarvis.

From memory, the Pulp song is Sheffield Sex City and features sounds of connotation... Given recent player 'issues' I can see problems with that, plus I believe Jarvis is a closet pig...

Schalke come out to 'Rockin all over the world'. Whilst, a tad retro it does inspire almost all fans to play air guitar and air head bang in unison. Any new United song should thus ideally have actions attached. Again, possibly another good reason not to select Sheffield Sex City....

What about 'Hot Stuff' by Hot Chocolate. The thought of almost 30,000 Blades all moving in unison, a la Gaz, on the last day of the season as we come out to collect the League One trophy, now that would be the stuff of legend....
 
Tell you what, the star wars thing doesn't bother me but the gcb song at the start does, its never sat well with me that a terrace song should be played over a tannoy to encourage the crowd to sing, it feels to me that they have taken something special which used to occur spontainiously by demanding it at the start of each half, I don't sing it when its played over the tannoy..

Its the fans song, I don't want to be spoonfed my football chants and I might be in a minority, but, they'd never play "the referees a "......... pausing for the fans to finish it off, would they..

For me they've made it a bit cringeworthy, my kid loves it, maybe that's the point though...

I would ordinarily agree with Kenilworth's point, as forced or expected actions are definitely wrong, a la Hull. Inventing actions of pawing is awful and looks a bit like something from Rod, Jane and Freddie off Rainbow.

However, I consider fan led voluntary actions of irony can add value, especially when adopting an existing routine as your own.

As with most things, don't knock it til you try it and we did enjoy getting the old air guitars out with the boys from Gelsenkirchen, thirty of whom around us were fully dressed as smurfs!

Mind you the amount of decent ale supped that day and the later kick off did affect both the judgement and eyesight....

Perhaps sober, the thought of enjoying being surrounded by 30 Germans all dressed in white dungarees, bodies painted blue and miming to 70's rock legends in a football ground is something best kept quiet....

I'd have been tempted to give them all the wanker sign rather than joining in, though.
Maybe it's a British thing - not wanting to look like an absolute cock?
