Still think we need Basham back in there but he battled really well vs a strong and much taller opponent.
Well done Tel lad. They even named the kop after you ;)

How did Terry Kennedy play today? Is he the answer to our center half problems?

He wasn't too bad - the point with kennedy is he seems to be playing at the very limit of his ability - last week he sort of had a half bothered Austin in his pocket and he again did ok again today. Players need to be comfortable at what ever level they play at. Bash is out for another game so TK will get another opportunity next week, but the kid has to step up a bit further. Lets say room for further improvement but he knows his role at the moment and is sticking to it.

Score today - 7/10 in a good all-round team performance.

Fulwood , i think Mr Clough has gone back to basics with not overcomplicating instructions and tactics , which can even make experienced players nervous and confused. Keep it simple and every player knowing there task and role.

I think with young Kennedy it is a case with Mr Clough and Morgs just saying you a brilliant player and we have belief in you , just go out and enjoy yourself . This philosophy to me seems to be working , throughout the team .

Cup team = league team . Lets hope so.

There is a lot of merit in that statement - it was noticeable that we played virtually an unchanged side from last week v QPR with the exception of Reed which considering his AGE was always going to happen this week. Reed will be save for 2 x Spurs League Cup SEMI FINAL (sounds great doesn't it?).

I completely understand the fans call for a more adventurous 4-4-2, but the NC way seems to be 4-5-1 that is easily switched to 4-3-3 at times during a game - ie: a flexible approach.

Playing 4-5-1 and sitting deep (ish) seems to suit the players we have and we have a great ability to break with pace - something that in all my time of watching United we have never been able to do before.

The marauding Flynn at FB is a bonus find and he is not far off what Brayford gave us last season. Whilst TK has done ok, we need to plug CH with a big uncompromising (Preston type - haha) fella. Think back to QPR last week - they had 2 very easy headers in our box, so that is STILL a problem to us - we just dropped a bit lucky where as in league games we have been punished by them).

Personally I think the time for experimenting has to stop - we need to be settled in style (4-5-1 & 4-3-3) and probably 8/9 players with just small tweaks as and when required.

I thought Kennedy was immense yesterday, The lad is fearless and puts his body on the line, he slid in to save one off the line in the second halfl, that was going in, and later stopped Ebanks-Blake (I think it was EB anyway), and crashed into the goal post full pelt, looked painful, he just shrugged it off. When Preston hit us with that 10 minute onlslaught at the end of the second half, it was Kennedy, time after time, with the diving headers, keeping them out.

If Basham comes straight back in, then I will understand, and having TK on the bench will be a luxury to call upon.

IMO you need players who can look after themselves in any side , and the lad can certainly do that .

Players need protection from the opposition , from some of there own , like in sunday league football .

We are in league 1 , with league 1 referees , and no protection and sides mixing it like PNE , MKD.

Mr Clough will sort this . Do we need a Dave Mckay type in midfield or is Doyle the man.

Suppose Mr Clough will overcome this to ensure football brain overcomes brawn.

Ratings S24SU - 82 votes- 8.12 out of 10 - that's about right ( I gave him 8). Very promising young lad at the outset of his career which has been exceptional at younger age levels. Despite a serious injury lay-off the lad has returned with grit and determination.

With only a handful of senior games, in which he has never let us down, he is well worth further development and if his performances enable us to channel funds towards striker options then he will be worth a lot to us as a squad player.

Glad to hear Kennedy has done so well, was worried after being off the radar for so long.

I think TK is a cracking player, I was thinking earlier apart from his debut, which I believe was a 4-0 away at Swansea when we were already relegated, has he been on a losing side for the blades?

I'm sure his record is pretty impressive.

Hes always come in & done well & just got his head down & quietly waited for his chance.

Well done Tel.

You also got to remember that young centre backs are often very poor when they start out in the team. Maguire was pretty average with some terrible ricks in his first few goes in the team. He turned into an ace player and I hope that TK can.

I remember some on here were saying that TK was scouted more and more highly rated than HM when they were both coming through from the youth team.

Well done TK and everyone at the Academy. Hope he plays for us for years.

I remember him being very highly regarded as a 17 year old, and Harry only got the attention because TK suffered a lot of injuries. I'd love to see him get a run in the team, he'll be captain by age 23

Hes reads the game well for a kid made first to the ball in 95% of challenges distribution was sound as well.

Well chuffed for him.

He plays with heart and spirit, and genuinely looks like he appreciates the opportunity he's been given. Thought he was going to break the post when he slid into it
