Which way do you see it going? I know it's only halfway and still the JTW could make a difference, but I can't see anyone outside top four getting automatic easily. A couple more defeats and we may not even be in the top half o f the table. The rot needs to stop now.

I still think we'll make the playoffs even though we're going through a sticky patch,if Clough changes the way we approach games from the start, gets more stability in the way of the starting 11,and the players find a bit more form.It doesn't look like this now but we will make the playoffs. The question is will we win one:rolleyes::)

If we have a decent Jan then I still think we have a chance of a play off place.

A month like December and we will be trying to work out which fixtures will take us over the 55 point mark and safety.

The season is approaching a tipping point.

Yep and the easiest game in the next four is Rochdale away

Yes LE they are in worse form than us so there is no reason to see why we can't win this one.Oh,i'm trying my hardest to stay upbeat,i'm finding it difficult though:D

One way to look at it i suppose is we have got to 33 points without playing well, with one game to go until halfway,we can get a similar amount of points and be safe:rolleyes::D

My big question mark is why are certain players not repeating last season's form. During the second half of last season when the team won the ball our attacking players were off, there was movement everywhere and the man with the ball had options. Passing was easy when players were on the move and making space. That's not just about formations, it's about players so Scougall , Flynn ( when on the wing) and Baxter in particular should take a long hard look at themselves and, to a lesser extent, so should Murphy.

The manager has to find a way to rediscover their enthusiasm and optimism and increase the first three's work-rate by at least 30%.

I think those first three mentioned players above are reaching a tipping point in their careers with Clough. I know Scougall appears to be a manager's favourite but he is failing badly. Flynn was a revelation at full back and seemed to rediscover his confidence all of a sudden; he has to repeat that on the wing because I don't think Clough would persevere with him at full back once others are fit. Baxter is on borrowed time I fear.
Murphy has to find a way to get himself space when the opposition double up on him, that's the next stage of his development and it involves more movement off the ball, though I must say he does far more than the other three above.

Coady was not that influential last season for the manager not to expect all four of those players to come to the party in his absence this season too.

The players appear to be working hard each game but we know they can play with a lot more energy, tempo and optimism because they did it last season. What's up wi'em? and why can't Clough sort it out? Confidence is a factor and sheer determination is another factor; bottle! They have to get into the final third of the pitch and particularly into the penalty area more often in numbers.

My answers to your questions mate are in the post you reply too.We don't have a settled side.I would like to see how many times we have played the same team in consecutive games, don't get me wrong they're professionals and should be able to handle this but it has come apparent that they can't.Like you say, there were no problem the second half of last season was there,so it really is a bit baffling, although the influence of Brayford,Maguire and Coady have something to do with it.Which league one side wouldn't miss those three players? What we failed to do was replace them adequately.

Ultimately, if players are not delivering it is because the manager is not asking them to deliver, or is not giving th e m the opportunity to do so

Wiz , your post is the answer to our problem. The 3no best ,most influential players of last season not being replaced by players of equal or better calibre . Butler and Wallace scenario has not helped Mr Clough in overcoming this , and made matters even worst.
This can be the problem with having loan players , but it is not just applicable to the blades , its same for all teams . The thing is , other teams for what ever reason seem to cope better than us.

consistency of picking the same team , with players , playing in there correct positions would perhaps help ., but injuries , suspensions , loss of form , does not always make this possible

The board have to have faith in Mr Clough and back him in the January transfer window , but who is to say , that they are divided and have split opinions on Mr Clough own performance and decision making this season , just like us fans..
