We all marvelled at the near instant effect Clough had when he came in. But it took him maybe 3 months, With some additions, to figure out his best XI.

In the summer we lost 3 of the key players of that best XI and the momentum generated from last season has finally come to a grinding halt. Why? Because between the poor signings of Butler (not a poor player btw), Porter and the bizarre decisions regarding Butler, Collins, Davies, McNulty & McCarthy (useless) we have yet to figure out our best XI and consistently stick with it.

Last season Clough had to make do and did an excellent job with his hands tied by closed transfer windows. But with the benefit of an open transfer window he has squandered the budget allocated to him with a transfer policy that has to work around the bizarre alienation of good players in areas where we are struggling. For me, this is another reason why we don't know our best XI. Change your (negative) attitude to your staff and tactics please Mr Clough.

Your in part blaming the signing of Porter for our current plight? Had you said Higdon I may have read the rest. Higdon is worse than Porter yet no mention?

Well hindsight is a wonderful thing Bladesway, so I can't criticise him for the signing of Higdon. But the signing of Porter was strange given that he has never featured or even made the bench in a lot of games. So to answer your question, no, I do not personally hold Porter responsible at all.

I understand what you're saying mate but with the amount of minutes Higdon has played can you hand on heart say that he is worse than Porter,i don't think so just yet.Atleast give him the amount of chances Porter has had before classing him in that bracket.Higdon has 5 in 11 i think which is almost 1 in 2,that's not really that bad at all.

It's Christmas and Higdon still isn't fit. Originally it was put down to not having a club early enough. If you're a pro footballer looking for a club allowing yourself to balloon in weight is unprofessional. Then having a club and presumably the staff and facilities to get back down to a normal weight but not doing so is criminal. I don't dislike the man but I am frustrated in the extreme that he has the chance to be a top scorer in a promotion team and have 20,000 chanting his name but seems unable to stop eating pizza for nine months.

If I'm wrong and it's something else then I apologise but that's the impression I have of him so far.

As for Clough im getting tired of having no idea what team he'll put out. I wish he signed a player thinking "he's a good right back" instead of "he could do an average job in four positions". I like consistency and I think a manager needs time to put together their own team and get them playing how they envisage and would almost accept having a season to do it if I thought we were creating a team to piss the league next year that could then hold its own in the championship. However, we're not doing that as far as I can see and even whilst in transition we should be more convincing than we have been because we should be winning a lot more than we are.
