“I thought we played pretty well today some good passing skills and some good moments in the game. until the ref ruined it!
He was crap end of no balance on his side what so ever towards the game, Near on every decision was to home advantage.
I never expected us to win and something told me we would have missed that penalty
It was just the manner of the win for them that really ****** me off. “

“NOT a penalty any way. Purrington initially fouled their player outside the area - play advanced into the area - and only then did their player finally hit the floor. No more serious contact was made by BP. “

“First half we were given the run around. Couldn't get the ball and on few occasions we did, gave it away by lumping it towards Rueben, or mis-placed passes. Kellet had the best chance after a superb pass from Banton but lacked pace to beat the full back.

“Probably the most angry I've ever been while watching argyle and not because the way we played. Every single time a Sheffield Utd player went down it was automatically a free kick. It was absolutely pathetic how this is still allowed to happen in the game, so many dives. The first penalty was the correct decision. However, it was the blatant foul on Hartley which the ref 'didn't see' right before.. The second penalty was so, so soft. We didn't play that badly to be honest, just don't think it was a fair game today at all. “

“The second pen was a fair one but I generally agree. If we'd have got the rub of it today we could easily have won.
I've seen Argyle play games where you could play the game over and over again with different refs and the score would be the same each time. This wasn't one of those games.
We also arguably could have had a pen three or so minutes after Reid missed the first one due to a handball in the box by their defender. “

“we were utter sh1te today and we nee to sort out our away form ASAP.”
“Argyle actually played some half decent passing football second half but lacked the killer instinct. On several occasions, Reid's touch let him down, most noticeably when put through by Allessandra. The bench looked weak with only six players and no forwards. Could have done with an option to replace Reid, or Thomas for a bit of pace. Just not available. A third goal at the death slightly flattered Sheffield. “

“I assume pen 2 was for hand ball? The speed the ball came off our defender, who was mid-air blocking, it must have hit his leg - surely? The look of amazement on the Argyle faces, and some Sheff players, points towards a wrong decision. Had RR scored his pen then ......... ????? Onwards.”

“there was not that much between the sides. Certainly 3 v 0 was flattering. The first twenty minutes we were the better side. I suppose the dagger to the heart is when the Blades draw Manure away ! “

“Could have been more for Sheff Utd
1 shot on target including a penalty is not good enough in any game “

“I thought 3-0 flattered them a bit We did deserve to lose, but I've seen us play worse than that and get results. “

“Their pens were both definite
First one was a foul outside the box but then another inside, second I didn't know what was for at the time but having seen the highlights it was a clear shirt pull.
No complaints about the result, 2 bad teams but they were the only ones that were ever gonna score. Without the pens 1-0 was fair “

“Is it only me who thinks Hartley was fouled before their first penalty? The consensus seems to be that he went down softly under a fair challenge but that isn't at all how I saw it. It's also very debatable whether Ben continued the foul into the box or not. think a fair outcome would have been for us to have two penalties and them to have had one. We didn't get the rub of it with decisions at all. If we'd gone one up, I'd have fancied us to hold on. “

“3 0 flattered them although their passing was slicker and their first touch cleaner .Good turn out from GA - 600 to 700 (??) - who continually outsang a disappointingly apathetic home crowd of just 7,000. They didn't even sing the chip butty song. A Blade on the train home passed the poor attendance off as it was the third in a run of 4 consecutive home games with Southampton on Tues being preferred by many non-attenders. The Sheffield Tap was an enjoyable pre-match watering hole. “

“played well in small spells and weren't really out played until being 2 down. “

“My Sheff Utd-supporting friend told me after the game that they've been hurt at home this season by teams counter-attacking them, and that he was never really worried about us today because we had no pace up front and no runners from midfield. “

Nice to know that the Blade on the train has his facts straight. For a start, if he turns up to watch the Southampton game on Tuesday coming he'll be part of an even smaller crowd than yesterday.

And we did sing the GCB, twice, although in the first half the game was well under way before Gary Sinclair remembered to do it. They are right though, they did out-sing us.

And Reid's touch really did let him down on one rather memorable occasion - Chico Hamilton's clock was worried for a second with that one.

Rainbow - I really enjoy these views from away fans. But one question, do you wait up all night to collate them, or did you just have a good night out and do it when you got in? :) If it's one, well done that man!

I've seen this mentioned a few times for our first penalty - the rule is if a foul takes place outside the box but carries on inside, it's a penalty.

I went out, came in pissed and got the quotes together whilst having another can like a true pisshead
Even more well done then! Deadbat's report, Compared with last season and View from away fans are the first things I look for. In no particular order, obviously :)

I thought football fans were banned from the Sheffield Tap on match days? Has that been lifted? I like a drop of real Ale.

As I drove past last night a hen night was coming out ,looked like they would catch their death of cold ,flesh all over the show ,was tempted to drive past again and make sure they were OK :)

Yup it's up to the ref. He lets play go on for as long as there might be an advantage, but once the player hits the deck it gets given, and he's well inside the area. Our fans would have moaned too if it the roles were reversed, but it was good refereeing.

Reading some of the comments, I'm interested to know if Plymouth fans

a: Think they would have got a bigger attendance than us for a game against a team a division below
b: Think that the atmosphere at Home Park would have been great against a team from the division below

I actually enjoy reading these comments now when we win. Apparently we must be the luckiest team in England, our fans make no noise at all, and despite out 19000+ average for our fourth straight Third Division season, our 7350 attendance in the cup is shite, as against their 5153 home attendance in the previous round.

It does make opposition fans look bitter and twisted.

Any Argyle fans who think they played well, even in spells are deluded, was really expecting more from them, sorry would like to have said something complementary about their performance, but nothing stood out.

Depends what you are used to I suppose. If you don't have any shots on goal, a couple of shots just wide of the post would be something to cheer wouldn't it?
