Flo Cuvelier

I'll admit, I had completely written him off and thought given NC's thoughts on him a year ago that he'd be off at the earliest opportunity. From NC's interviews pre and post match it sounds like he's been impressed with the effort to get back to fitness. Another one to add to the abundance of central midfield options.

I was impressed with his workrate when he came on and getting himself in to the box.

JCR did it loads of times in the first half ,but McNulty was sat down 50 yards away.

This is true - and did ALL Blades who went today, see how Mcnuts hit the near post for his goal - it is called movement. Keith Edwards had it in spades and Mcnuts is pprobably as near to a Keith Edwards type of player we have ever had since.

Mcnulty is a quality striker, thinks way ahead of others, hits the near post instead of ball watching and our manager has to start seeing the fool hardy nature of keeping him warming the bench.

These are all options in the jigsaw that is building a team and it's all about finding and fitting the right pieces in the right places so it all comes together.
Some of the key pieces may not seem to fit at all for a time but when it does all finally comes together I think we will have one hell of a team...

Just seen the goal on BBC, a great run and ball in from Cuvelier and an absolutely lovely touch from McNulty to glide the ball into the net.
The Blades at their best imo.

Hardly foolhardy; he's been settling in and then on the injured list. We will see plenty from him through the remainder of the year.

cloughy knows he,s got a player on his hands here and we will see a lot more from him in the remaining games he,s an out en out poacher the way he pinched the ball off the pilgrims player sums him up he is very bright pity higdon daos,nt have a bit of that in him, im a clough fan but i just cant see what cloughy saw in him.mcnulty didnt go down when fouled outside the box and his driving run forced the player to foul him again in the box well done to him!!

I like how the rest of the team rushed to congratulate him after the 3rd goal. A nice moment!

Pleased for him, he looked lost under Weir. I think Clough will draw out his talent. Interesting that Clough said there's no point sending players out on loan if they are fit enough and good enough for the squad. If he proves his fitness, I think he'll be in the squad.

So like iv'e said on many occasions,Diegos' no chance with Clough then.A real shame,we could have some proper talent on our hands in Cuvelier and Diego, proper footballers, but if what you say about Cloughy is correct then don't be suprised to see Cuvelier go the same way as Diego in January aswell.Luckily for us,the loan window has slamed shut, otherwise, rest assured,Cuvelier would have been on loan now,no two ways about it!

Doubt Diego's contract will get renewed then?

Butler will be sold probably back to Walsall.

Flo sent out on loan or sold?

It was nice to see Cuvelier get such a great reception when he came on, and he made an impact straight away. Set up McNulty for the third goal, and then made that high speed chase down the left flank, slid to get the ball, scooped the ball off of the line and passed it to McNulty who fired but the keeper saved, would have been an awesome fourth goal

I saw Flo Cuvelier in abour 10 games last season and he was probably one of the worst players i saw during that spell, and that does say quite a lot considering some of the competition he has. I'm not expecting any fireworks from him, but he can prove me wrong i will be more than happy.

A promising cameo for Cuvelier, but perhaps too early to judge his ability. Either way he's shown real character and determination to get back into the squad after such a serious injury. It must be hard for a player in his prime to be out for so long but he seems to have put all his focus and energy into getting fit again and regaining a place on the team.

He's shown himself to be a good professional, now let's hope for his sake and United's that he can find a place in the side and prove his quality.

The interest in Diego from other clubs appears to have subsided. If the interest previously reported is true, it would be a shame to let his contract run down without letting us have a good look at him.
If Nige doesn't intend to play him, he should IMO have been sold. A good fee would have been preferable to letting him walk for a very low amount as it now seems unlikely that the lad would extend his stay with us.

he only played 4 full games for us before getting injured and played during a time we were awful under Weir. I think he's only played about 8 minutes for Clough before yesterday. I'm confident if he can stay fit he'll become a huge asset. Awesome cameo yesterday.

So pleased for the lad.
Is his contract up at the end of the season?

Clough has said on the radio ,he wants Diego to get experience yet ,he thought he wasn't ready after playing him a couple of times (I agree btw) and he will reassess him later in the season but expects him to be here for the next 4 or 5 years.
I personally think Clough handles the young players very well and Reed Diego and McNulty and others will benefit from his way of introducing them slowly. He did the same at Derby and brought through some great players who Maclaren is now getting the benefit from.
However if they are not good enough they have to be shipped out too ,the lower leagues are littered with players who looked like worldbeaters at 17.

All Clough needs to do is point to the seats in the stand behind Hull's bench and say to the lads, "if you leave too early then that's the sort of place where you'll be playing your football"
