I see his 25 minutes of steady work on the right gave him another s24su MoM award at Doncaster. It was his sixth, in a season where he's started 4 league games, lost his place first to Ben Davies and then Jamal Campbell-Ryce, and generally not played as well as last season.

MOM for 25 minutes steady contribution, something wrong with the marking system surely.

in all the reports and comments he's hardly merited a mention. What about Baxter, McEveley, Howard, Murphy?

Something wrong somehere? If he got a bottle of champers as a prize he'd be giving it to a colleague.

Good OP.

Simply averages from all votes, if he ends up with a higher average than anyone else, he gets MOM.

He wasn't my MOM, whilst he played well, a fair few others got a higher rating from me.

OK Foxy I take your point, if members score a sub equally or better than a starter then that's their choice.

On closer examination, isn't it the case that Flynn has fewer votes than the starters, as do the other subs. Could it be that some markers are not giving scores for subs for their own reasons, maybe flawed, maybe not.

I think Flynns aggregate score should be divided by 58 in fact, so the missing three should be zero maybe, or assumed as say 5. Possibly that would be fairer if some chose not to score players just because they are subs. Members who don't think a rating is appropriate for subs would likely score them harshly if they had to complete every box.

Even if you unfairly give Flynn 3 zeros for the 3 people who didn't rate him he'd still come out third on average. If you give him some contrived 5s to try and neuter his score he still averages out as the highest scorer. Maybe Flynn just deserved it.

I like Flynn. He can make a difference in the big games as he has an eye for a goal. He could improve his impact if he took his fullback on the outside more to create a crossing opportunity but you can never fault his attitude and work rate. Glad he is getting back to some form after a slow start this season following injury.

I like him but would still like to see him as a full back in a side with two holding midfielders and three playing just off a single striker.

That was Flynn's fifth FA Cup goal for us.

The first goal he scored for us was in the FA Cup against Oxford in November 2011.

Quite astonishing that Flynn gets so few starts, especially in away games where his defensive disciplines are so useful.

Is it more about the weaknesses up front so Clough chooses Ryce's more attacking attributes to compensate .

Before Ryce settled it was Davies who got the nod and yet Flynn did so well for the manager last season too.

Give the guy MOM often enough, his confidence will grow and he will actually earn it.

Seriously happy for the lad; we will need them all this year!

Can someone please for the life of me,tell me why Flynny was MOM at Donny over Baxter? I am now very baffled at this time, and btw i like Flynny aswell, love his song what nobody sings but him getting the MOM for that specific game is staggering.o_OThis just goes to show that people vote with their agenda in mind instead of how a specific player has played in that game because Baxter has been slated on here and rightly so in some respect but at Donny he was different gravy.

Well done tonight Flynny, very happy for him.

You are right Wiz, I noticed early in the season (it was after the Mansfield game) that with 20 minutes to go before the ratings voting closed that Jose was well in front for getting the MoM. When I checked the next morning Ben Davies had overtaken him, and it appeared that half a dozen or so people must have given Ben a really high rating, and Jose a really low rating (all in those last 20 minutes before voting closed) in order to skew the results.

Obviously that cannot be proven, because those late voters may all have really believed that Jose deserved a '2' and Ben deserved a '9', but if it is simply people with an agenda, it is a shame that they consider that necessary.

It's worth noting, that I do monitor for suspicious patterns of voting.

Due to it's nature, the more people that vote, the less it's susceptible to individuals with an agenda "gaming" it.

Is it that big an issue that someone would do that ?
Baxter was excellent at Donny especially second half ,I though Mceveley just shaded it though.
Mceveley might not get many more mentions off me though because I always have to look up how to spell his name , Ive only just got the hang of Colquhoun.

We had a debate and a poll on the scoring system over a year ago. Some of us thought that a scoring system out of Twenty would be more appropriate as it gave greater flexibility in marking players. Most thought it better to keep it out of Ten. Foxy is right to allow no half marks so to avoid people sitting on the fence.
If someone thinks Flynn deserves MOM for 25 mins then so be it. If it is down to the fact that we score out of Ten, then what would happen if we scored out of Twenty because I doubt if he would get it for 25 mins.

Flynn was MOM last night for me. Scougall, Doyle & Reed closely followed behind

He looked sharp & hungry for the ball again & that drive to go at his man was back again which we haven't seen since the backend of last season

Anyway enough debating about the MOM ratings mardyarses, we won didn't we?! ;)

I was a bit disappointed in Reed ,he seemed to disappear for half an hour. Howard MOM for me with mentions for Basham ,Scougall Flynn and Doyle.

Funny that because Baxter didnot put a foot wrong when he came on, for how long?

Very good point about Howard. Can I have a joint MOM or is that not allowed?! ;)

Outstanding double save & without that who knows which way the game would have swung if they'd got their tails up, we'd become restless...thankfully we didn't have to find out

Flynn was by far the best player on the pitch when he came on against Donny, so I don't see what the confusion is there. Even though it was on for last 20-30min. Deserved if you ask me
