Apart from a finger, next to he who must not be named for me it has to be STRIKER SEARCH !!!!!!!!!
It's been going on since last season and of late with both strikers out injured it's been the main topic after every match, we're always on the brink of signing one but it always falls through at the last minute.
I would think by now every body knows it's never going to happen, so why do the club keep on saying that it's about to ?

In answer to the original question, the midfielders not scoring enough goals to make the striker search unimportant.

We have enough quality in the finishing department to make the "false 9" work. They're just not finding the net enough (Baxter, Murphy, Flynn, JCR, Scougall). Should all be targetting double figures for goals in a season.

Not really sure what evidence you have to make you think Scougall, JCR and Flynn should be finding double figures. You'd be hard-pressed to find evidence for the other 2 really. Strikers score goals. We don't have strikers hence why there is only one team in the top half to score less than us so far this season! The OP makes the most telling point though, we keep getting told there is a striker signing imminently... Why? What a pointless lie they've dragged out! Always 'jam tomorrow' with this club!

Unfortunately, with our midfielders, only Baxter anf Murphy and the injured Davies are finding the net. Scougs is recovering from the injury at the start of the season and nearing 80%, Flynn is not finding any consistency at all and JCR, while exciting needs to remember that we are playing Football, not Rugby...under the bar, not over it!

It has to be Higdon, MM and at least another, if Adams is not ready.

A recent pole in a national daily newspaper indicated that the average wage in the prem was £2.5m, the average wage in the Champ was £.5m.

Any club with a decent striker (a) doesn't want to part with them and (b) if they do want the recipient club to pick up most of the salary.

We probably can't afford it. OK,so we have 2 strikers out injured, 2 young ones not quite good enough, and 1 picking up a wage and playing just bit parts.

4-5-1 or 4-6-0 is working to a degree.

If we win our next 3 home games - the opening post would be "Do we actually NEED any strikers"?

Actually we have never been told that we are signing a striker imminently! Nigel has occasionally said he hopes to have one in by a certain day or that he has made offers and awaits responses. Some of you transpose that into 'we've been promised a striker will sign tomorrow..' Well, no you haven't. Are you seriously suggesting that Nigel hasnt enquired about 4 strikers recently (two of them S.Davies and O'Grady)? Or is he making it up? If so, to what point or purpose? If only we had Darius and the rest of Orient's far superior squad, eh? We can only dream.

As for SandyMcBlade, we know no such thing. It is going to happen, but maybe not tomorrow, so more juvenile bleating will be available for a while at least. That's a relief isn't it?

Actually, that is an impressive amount of bollocks Sitwell. All you do is follow me round and slate my posts, without ever actually responding to my points. I have raised a query with a poster about the evidence of our midfielders goal-scoring ability. Instead of debating it, you chose to make it personal and offer nothing to the debate other than personal attacks. Yes, I'm embarrassed about the Ched affair. Yes, I hate the club lying to us. Yes, in pissed off that we're in our 4th consecutive yeD in the 3rd tier. So forgive me for being slightly on the negative side. However, I have good reason to be and state my reasons. You, on the other hand, offer nothing to debates with me and just attack me personally. I find that pathetic and utterly useless to the point of a football forum. You want to attack me? It doesn't matter at all. But then, we aren't debating that are we. A poster said they are capable of scoring double figures. I responded by questioning this and asking his justification for this statement. So, in effect, you've agreed with me yet looking back at your fest response you would never think it would you? That is my point, you aren't responding to my posts, just constantly griping with me trying to win a personal battle that only you are a part of. If you don't like my posts, ignore me, it's just so simple.
