After 14 games, 11 players have so far notched league goals for us. Does anyone know what the record is?

We might be lacking a prolific striker but there are goals everywhere in this squad.

I think the record is 19 in the league + one in the cup 2008-9 season.
Without failing to score (as statto site puts it) the record seems to be 34 from 1956-57

The last time we were promoted (2005-06) we had 16 different scorers.

Andy Gray
Steve Kabba
Paul Ifill
Leigh Bromby
Chris Morgan
Neil Shipperley*
Danny Webber
David Unsworth
Stephen Quinn
Phil Jagielka
Vincent Pericard
Nick Montgomery
Michael Tonge
Chris Armstrong
Ade Akinbiyi
Bruce Dyer

*Top scorer - 11

I know some think Nigel doesn't know his best team because he changes it from game to game, personally I don't think it's a team he's trying to build, it's a squad...

That season he scored more times against us than he did for us.

He scored three times at Bramall Lane, twice for Millwall, once for us.

The game at Hillsborough that season was so frustrating, Dyer and Akinbiyi absolutely tore them apart but neither could finish a bag of crisps (with one notable exception!)

Vincent Pericard, another in a long line of players who have been in 'klink'!

Also, Saturday was the 15 consecutive game we've scored in - again, wonder what the record is?

And people say we lack goals...!

We do lack goals. See our goal difference. We should have put 5 past Gillingham and at least 5 past Crewe and should have scored more in other games. Our GD should be at least 12 better than it is now.

We are not converting enough of the chances we are creating and that is not good news which ever way you spin it. I believe this will only happen if we get a decent striker in or McNuts develops quicker than planned.

We're not doing badly but we are capable of so much more. We should be pissing this league - we may still do - but that extra fire power is needed to get to that edge to make this happen.

But srsly scoring isn't a problem. The problem is conceding, which is something we haven't done for 4.5 hours now...

We're scoring enough to win matches it's just that we never tonk the opposition and very rarely score more than two goals in a match.

As I mentioned in another thread, we're yet to score more than three goals in a league match under Clough.

As an aside, Brayford last night became our 16th League scorer this season, equalling our last promotion season in 05-06. Including cups we have had 20 different scorers, including Mr OG.

I seem to remember the record is around 20 but I think that was league scorers. I'm still expecting Basham to eventually get his head on a corner, Kennedy, Coutts, we could get close again.

I think Darren will know this, i seem to remember him mentioning this last season

I'd also be surprised if Che Adams doesn't pick up a league goal before the end of the season.

the Record is I believe 20 different league scorers, in 2008-9.

And (as if I need an excuse to post graphs/charts etc. :))

In first halves, we score two and a half times as many goals as the opposition in the first quarter of an hour, then we slacken off a bit for fifteen minutes and we let the opposition score 16% more goals than we do. We up our scoring rate again in the final third before the break, but unfortunately, our opponents up theirs even more, 66% more in fact.

Somebody else can do the in depth analysis of the second forty five minutes :-)

I'm on it! A couple of stats. so far. We've not had a 0-0 in the League all season and we've not scored or conceded in first-half added time - in all competitions - all season.
