What are people's thoughts on the penalty shout? From my view near the back of the Kop I thought Campbell-Ryce dived.

Wasn't sure at the match but saw it on Sky when I got back and it was a cert pen - as Karl Robinson who was commentating said

Im not on about dropping people but I agree with you about Scougall and Murphy they are both of the boil

I don't think we'll manage to sneak JCR in the starting lineup without dropping somebody? :D

JCR (forgetting the pathetic dive), McNulty, Flynn, McGahey must all start in the next game. Forget Murphy and Scougs as they seem disinterested at the moment. Thought we did OK for the most part. The final 20 minutes of the first half was dire and we we're lucky to be only 1-0 down.

However, suggesting that this team is as bad or anywhere near as bad as under Weir are really idiotic.

Yep, we're a mid table third tier side rather than relegation threatened one. What a time to be alive!

Strange one, yes there was contact so I'd say penalty otherwise the ref would have to give a corner, seeing as he gave a goal kick then surely the defender got none of the ball before bringing JCR down. having said that there was no huge appeal from the other players.

If I was on about dropping people Alcock got to go bring in Davies Pro

For clarity Foxy it wouldn't be like dropping Flynn use him for the last 20 after JCR has done the damage

It seems to be like this every week at the moment. The good news is that variance has to even out in the end. We cannot keep on like this. If we have stats like that every week we are going to win many, many more than we lose or draw.

I admire your enthusiasm and optimism, but until we get a striker with strength and pace who CAN score goals, to convert some of the chances we create we are going NOWHERE fast.
We had 3 chances in the first 8 minutes today and squandered them all including a stunning miss from Baxter. If NC cannot see the Desperate need for a striker in this side immediately, then he should consider playing himself !! Which brings us back to the question ..... are the financial resources been denied to him ?

WE DO NOT need a striker - we have a striker called MCNULTY - what does he have to do to start?

Playing Baxter as a false no 9 today was a JOKE

If Baxter and Scougall cannot play in the first team together, then we should NOT sacrifice Mcnulty to make way with a false 9 formation.

Sorry, Mr Clough - poor team selection today.

UTB

I agree with you here ..... our team selection today was poor. Scougal, who I do like, completely failed to make any impression at all on the game and should have been subbed at half time. We cannot continue with this ineffective 4 - 5 - 1 formation unless we sign Didier Drogba on loan to play upfront. We are a lightweight, slow side and we are going nowhere at the moment ........

And buy who?
Just curious, as so many people say similar, and we need a striker but who do people suggest?
I would bet and stand to be corrected but Bristol and mkd don't get stats like those most weeks with thrice hitting woodwork, 2 cleared off the line and a clear penalty denied plus actually scoring a couple.
I'm not so sure we need to buy a striker, maybe just play one with a little consistancy, is that 4 for mcnulty so far? And only started a couple, not too shoddy return.
Give him game time.

I believe that Bristol C & MKD are benefitting from having strikers who can score goals and they are converting their chances which we are not. Goal difference tells the story ........

I thought J C-R's dive was as laughable as the Chesterfield player last week, but it's desperate when you need penalties, opponents sent off etc. to beat Orient at home.

Other thoughts? Well, we simply can't keep letting the first half at home just drift by. We need impose ourselves on the game from the off.

When McNulty & J C-R came on, the game changed. Why didn't they start?

Possession is the most over-rated stat. there is. Sure, we pass from side to side and backwards often enough, but the 'killer ball' is not there.

Shots? Only if they test the goalie and/or defenders. Our header that hit the bar at the end (Basham?) wasn't bad luck. It was a fucking sitter.

Corners? From United? Don't make me laugh.

But for me, the most telling moment was as we prepared to 'defend' the corner they equalised from. NC screamed at J C-R to get back in the area, leaving us with an outlet of precisely fucking zero.

Who thought we'd hang on for 5, 6, 7 minutes by desperate defending? Me neither.

No need for an outlet in the 99th minute, especially if you are going to leave a man to head the ball into the net unchallenged :(

One thing hindering our chances of promotion this year is a settled side, for what ever reasons we aren't doing this, have we played the same team 2 games in a row yet?

I'm sure i heard/read the other night Bristol City have played the same side since first game of the season in the league?

I have absolutely no idea what our best XI is. What I worry about is that I don't think NC does either. Last year, even before the Brayford/Harris signings, he built a side to be solid - with our results coming on the back of a solid defence. We were never leaking goals to the extent we are this season, and from day 1 of the season his defensive selections have been a bit odd. I'm not sure whether he's switching it weekly because of the problem, or whether the problem stems from switching it weekly. His explanation for the Collins absence is that they've analysed some of the recent goals and he felt Collins, often playing too deep, was the root cause.

It wouldn't surprise me if next week Butler is recalled and paired at the back with Porter as NC punches a few more buttons on his random-back-4 generator.

When we had an extra man anyway! Unbelievable.

what about that other player, ched something.......been away for a couple of years, ! cant remember his second name

Ooverns isn't it..the Dutch lad?
Many Jacobian detractors apparently...

Not really what I was suggesting there but OK. So you disagree and think there is no difference to this time last season?

Should have read "while Orient had ten back we had two fucking defenders on halfway line." ;)

I was in line with it near the front of the kop and there was no contact at all. We should have had a penalty earlier though when their player scooped the ball out of play with his hand.

It was nice of us to even things up when they had a man sent off by bringing Basham on. Very sporting of us, although he did actually touch the ball once when he hit the bar I believe.

Seriously though, I though Harris, Flynn, McNulty and Campbell Ryce had decent games. That was about it. It wasn't a brilliant performance as Nigel saw it. We had a lot of defensive possession, mostly wasted by McEverley and, in particular, McCarthy's awful distribution, and created a few chances. McNulty is either not great at finishing, or very unlucky. Another cleared off the line today. We do need a clinical finisher (hint: the Kop were singing his name today.)

Alcock was at fault for them getting the corner from which they scored the second because he was half asleep, jogging into the centre we the ball was played to their winger.

No I agree we are much better than this time last season. We're still bad, though
