Just seen this from Teamtalk. He still has a future at Hull but Bruce doesn't think he is ready so he will allow him to go out on loan however only to a Championship team. Apparent Bruce would like him to Join Wigan due to Maguire still living locally, when asked about his return to us Bruce apparently said he doesn't want him playing in league one.

Well i never saw that coming:rolleyes:

I was close to falling asleep at the time (even though I remember everything I did all evening) but didn't I see said Slew getting sent off at the week-end on the Football League show?
Missed that but yes apparently:

"Second-bottom Vale played the second half without Jordan Slew after the Blackburn loanee caught Stephen Jordan with a flailing arm and was sent off."

That Blobfish on the left is bloody ugly

I hope that Mr Maguire goes on to have a very fruitful and successful career in football and that the wonderful Steve Bruce mentors him during his formative years in the art of defending that he was immensely adept at.

Don't think it was ever going to happen that he'd come back on loan to us, however we do need to find a replacement of that strong dominant centre half type. Does anyone know if Zak Whitbread at Derby or the defender Yeovil had on loan from Fulham 2 years back are currently getting first team games?

Yes Bruce and pallister the best CB pairing in football, until they came up against Romario and Bebeto at Barcelona at the camp nou and got shown up good an proper.

To try and condense Mr Bruce's career to one game against the very best strike force that world football had to offer at the time is a bit of a disservice.

I am sure young Harry will benefit more from an ex pro like that than most would give credit.

Good luck Harry!

Really? How? As for his record as a defender he was one of the best there was. You don't have to like the bloke ill grant you but I think your off the mark my a million miles.

No doubt Bruce took the most pleasure in announcing that Harry would not be going back to us on loan. Just sucks that we lost our best defender to have him sat twiddling his thumbs on the side lines whilst we ship goals by the bucketful. Having made his move to the premiership from the third division, I don't think we needed Bruce to tell us that returning to that league would have had no benefit to his career.

Whitbread is injured-again, and Dan Burn is a Fulham regular.

I have no problem with what Bruce says. If United wanted Maguire to play for them, that could have been achieved by not selling him.

And if people dislike Bruce because of him leaving us in 1999, they should read "Fit and Proper". If the version of events in there is true, I do not blame Bruce for leaving. He was made various promises by the board, and they were not kept.

Can you take your sensible and pragmatic comments elsewhere please? Only hysteria - either end of the spectrum - is currency on here these days.

My Problem with Bruce is he left United in the lurch to go to Huddersfield, then did the same to Wigan, Crystal Palace, Wigan again - and you can bet your bottom dollar he will do the same to Hull should Newcastle come calling.

Spineless.

...and he called us "Sheffield" in his post-match interview on ITV after the semi-final.

For his departure from United, read "Fit and Proper" as I said.

For his depature from the other clubs, yes, he looks like a quitter, but so what?
