Phew, thanks String Junior, I was listening to Melvyn Blog discussing the Battle of Talas in AD751, with several stammering academics on the perversely named radio 4 programme "In Our Time" ??
I dodged a bullet.
Evidently worried that Ched will track her down upon his release...
We really should have simply made a decision either way on this and released a statement to that effect:
1) Due to the baggage that Mr Evans has, we will not be offering him a contract but wish him the best wherever he may end up.
or
2) We will be offering Mr Evans a contract upon his release contingent on fitness levels and various other conditions. We believe all individuals deserve a second chance after rehabilitation.
Instead, we get this 'will he, won't he' bollocks where the club is at the centre of a media frenzy that can do no good whatsoever whether he signs or not.
The whole saga is the biggest bit of news surrounding our club since the West Ham / relegation affair. Chill out about the number of threads. It will pass.oh good, another thread
Why are you so bothered ? You love it ,well you seem to monopolise every Ched thread anyway , wont you get bored when the frenzy calms down ?Indeed. A decision must have been made. It's utter bollocks, 8 days before his release saying one has not been made.
I'm afraid there is no such thingthe issue is now deciding the best way to go about doing it with as much damage limitation as possible.
Oh there is, there's always a best way, but we won't take it.I'm afraid there is no such thing
A very balanced (not) view from Nicola who had signed the petition. Nicola is not her real name! Why on earth would someone who has signed a petition and feels strongly enough to be interviewed on national radio about the topic have to hide her real identity?

“They must not be given the message that rape is a trivial crime. Young boys and men have to be absolutely sure that the importance of gaining a woman's consent to sex is essential or the act is rape.”Another superbly balanced opinion for you as well, 'Jean Hatchet' also has her two penneth:

He got 5 years, more than some bloody kiddie fiddlers, and other very serious crimes and yet people saying about don't trivialise his crime I really do despair of the intelligence of some people.
Sorry Darren ,only winding you upWhy the personal attacks? It's something that interests me given the law/football intersection.
Why not contribute to the discussion rather than attacking posters.
Sorry Darren ,only winding you up![]()

But still less than some other, more serious crimes Darren is what I am getting at.whichever way you look at it a 5 year sentence can never be construed as "trivial" or trivialised. The standard sentence for a single rape with no violence is 4-8 years, so he got towards the bottom of the range.
