Following on from PeterNdlovu081's thread. I posted the below video, I was sat right behind this goal when it went it and literally followed it right into the top of the bread basket and I will never forget it. It's funny though as it never seems to get a mention when talking about the best goals at the lane and stuff when for me it is one of the best I have ever seen, maybe a tad fortunate as it could have gone anywhere from that distance but still what a goal

Anyway just wondered if anyone else on here can pick any screamers scored for us by shit players from the mental blades archives?

Not exactly a fantastic piece of skill, But Shelton's balloon goal v City will live long in the memory.

Leigertwood v Bolton , Gannon with right foot away to Forest, Kozluk second time around, home to Donny rovers.

A 25 yard stunner from I think it was John Ryan early 80's, one of only 2 he scored in his 56 appearances for the club, also around the same time, John Matthews I recall scoring another which was about 30 yds out, both fantastic goals I can't find either unfortunately but both players I'd classify as great goals from bobbins players.

Mike Lake 2 away v Southampton plus another home goal v i can't recall who, early 90s.

Mike Lake scored this one for us against Man City at home but he didn't mean it surelty :-)

Came in to post those Mike Lake stunners.

The Nade one just fills me with sadness. We were awesome that night and I thought we'd got a real star on our hands with Nade. The ease at which he turned Toure :(

Bob Atkins 75 yard screamer into the top corner at Millmoor.

My favourite. Just as my dad said, as Bob got the ball with his back to goal "don't give it to him, he's rubbish...."

Either of the 2 goals scored by Phil Starbuck during his 36 appearances for the Blades!

That was a terrific strike from Atkins - one of my faves as well from that era.
It seemed to me that the ground was so full it was about to burst at the time.
Is that when the wall collapsed at the end of the ground for away supporters?
Was on the side terrace with my brother and a few other mates.

Always hated that crush down that narrow street at the side of the old Millmoor ground.
Most claustrophobic I ever felt at matches whenever we played there

The wall collapse was on 6th Oct 79. Atkins' greatest moment was on 21st April 84. We won bothe games though....

I used to like Millmoor ,they moved the away fans around quite a bit ,Ive watched on all 4 sides . I was on the tunnel side for Atkins goal , though probably shouldn't have been ,I don't recall how and why I was there.

I too have seen us there from all four sides (same at the sty, Elland Road, Gigg Lane, Valley Parade, Boothferry Park and Boundary Park) but only ever "officially" at the Railway End. We always used to have too many fans for that end and in the pre "all ticket" days Blades were on all four sides regularly. It was always a case that if Millmoor Lane was snided we'd bugger off to another turnstile.

Back to the origin of this thread.

Tony Field against Ipswich. Piss poor player, unbelievable goal.

For what it's worth, I thought Mike Lake was a good enough player not to be included in this thread.

Perhaps the goals weren't as impressive as the fact that he scored two in one game, but what about Tony McMahon's free-kick double away at Crawley?

What was the lad from Ireland called who played a few games for us, mainly as sub? He ended up going to Shrewsbury about 2-3 years ago. I cant remember who we played at home, but he scorred 2 long range beauties in one game. Then immediatley became shit.

Just remembered David Mcallister

Cliff Calvert v Burnley at the Lane c.1977, during Cecil Coldwell's caretaker unbeaten role and songs like Sheffield united will never be defeated...a song or chant borrowed from the striking Grunwick employees.

Stood just to the right of that pic

Great free kick. Wanker of a player.

Top of the league at Xmas.

pommpey

Keith Tracey screamer at the beginning of one season when Blackie was in charge?

Could have been against Leicester or Blackburn...

I was stood to the left. It was indeed a great moment.

McMahon, however, was terrible, how he managed to actually step up a division from us I can't get my head around. People might question Clough's transfer dealings sometimes but swapping McMahon for Harris was a masterstroke.
