all down to wilder hes the manager he dictates the type of system and football we play hes taking us nowhere and think the majority of blades fans realise this
I think they are now beginning to, as painful as it is after his past achievements and the golden memories. I’ve said before, it reminds me of a boxer who comes back for one fight too many. I have no doubt that he still believes he can do it, but increasingly the signs are that he can’t. Possibly at this stage he’s a victim of the huge successes of 2016-19 and of course he’ll want to keep chasing that feeling again. But this isn’t a Hollywood script, it’s real life, and sadly he isn’t going to repeat it.

the 3 i like are rob edwards john mousinho and michael carrick once manure sack him the jobs too big for him at old trafford but i rate him as a coach at this level we should be looking at these young up and coming managers even if wilder stays for the start of next season

Wilder is going sooner or later. The only problem we have with the longer he stays is the fact that some of our fans are turning their back on the club. Our attendances are dropping even season ticket holders are picking and choosing the home games they go to. The longer he stays it puts the long term future of the club at stake.

So you are saying that sone of our 'best' fans, might decide they can't be arsed to come?

I know things were different in the 80s with hooliganism and supporting a football team being about as popular as telling people that you had AIDs", but some of us stuck with it. Attendances were regularly well under 10k (under both McEwan and Bassett), but funnily enough, some of us carried on supporting the team we love.

Maybe losing a few thousand lightweights, might not actually be the end of the world as we know it?

Just sayin' like, innit.

"Not intended to trivialise AIDs, before any Cancel Warriors get involved. The government sponsored 'ftighten the shit out of you' campaigns about AIDS, were a massive 80s cultural phenomenon, in the same way that footy most certainly wasn't..

Football is dying in general.

Look at the state of the football we are playing, though. It’s a really hard watch and could and should be much better with the players we have. We still have players who provide an attacking threat, but we don’t play in a way that allows them to thrive. O’Hare put the effort in but lacked end result far too often. Brooks is still developing and lacked consistency. Neither of them were consistently game changers. Admittedly, we were overly dependent on Hamer because we needed him to compensate for the general shitness of our “tactics”. So no, I don’t think Wilder is doing about right.
It’s about expectation and progression

Had a new bloke come in, had the 3 sales without real replacements, but now we’re playing decent stuff and building for the future, we would probably be doing about right

But, wilders playing shite football, regressing the club, has a stubbornness which impedes his decision making and has lost all the attributes of Mk1

So correct, he’s not doing anywhere near right

Was hoping the fella at Hull might have been sacked by now. But the way they’ve started, Man United is a much more likely option for him than Sheff United.

He's got them playing positive football, and they're doing decently in the Bational League. When he went in they were falling like a stone, but they are comfortable in mid-table now, and could make a move towards the playoffs. Had an iffy run of late, but have had to play the top 2 in their last 3 games.

With him we finish bottom half, without him we are relegated. And that’s not as supportive as it sounds, it’s the fact that this squad is so wilder that only he can get a faint fart like tune out of them.

If Wilder has more resources then we'd be a better team. It's really that simple I'm my book. I know many feel that he's wasted our budget on experienced players who are limited but to get really good players you have to spend some decent cash on transfer fees. The better league one players for example will set you back more than £4m these days, certainly the attacking players.

Louie Barry is class at League One level but look how he failed in the championship. I know you've not mentioned league one players but many do.

If from abroad then again, you're going to need some serious cash. I don't think Wilders signings are alternatives to these players but rather the best we could get. This is where I am most Wilder critics disagree.

We could get a top premier league manager and I do t think we'd be much different to now unless the budget was higher. The best sides in this league have spent some serious cash now it in the past. There's lots of teams below us who've also done that and are floundering.

Might be something of a left-field suggestion, but Chris Agutter at Sutton United is generating a fair bit of interest. Already had one League 1 club approach Sutton earlier this month which was turned down, and a number of other clubs at L1 and CH level are interested in him, either as a potential manager or coach.

Gilbert Hardstone is also doing a great job at Swallownest Miners Welfare (I’ve said same in recent posts)

He seems to be loved and respected by the players and supporters alike . His team play with a clear identity and are currently 5th in the Aldi Sunday Afternoon over 35s Division 4 .

Worth a shout ?

I think so but I’m not sure he would be tempted . His girlfriend Belinda runs the 100 club and organises the raffle- he would want her as part of the team and I don’t think Bettis would sanction this as well

A good analogy tbh

I'm sorry, this is crackers. He's had plenty of budget in the past and squandered it. And that's before we get on to wages and signing fees for recent acquisitions. We still have a healthy budget. There's no point talking about abroad purchases, it's an area we don't entertain, as confirmed by Wilder himself, so are actively limiting the available market. This, together with woeful tactics, is why folk are rapidly losing patience.

If you go back to the times we signed Cannon, Rothwell, Choudhury, Doherty, Shackleton etc. there would certainly have been much better options available.

Rather than being “the best we could get”, they’re what we ended up with because our search parameters for finding players are far too narrow, this is all down to Wilder and his recruitment team’s view on the world.

I definitely agree that we’d be a better team if we had more money to spend, but I think we’d just move up to the next level of buying players to fit this supposed ‘culture’ we’ve got, with high wages and very little future value.

Would rather look at someone like Tom Cleverley or Jack Wilshire who are playing good football in the league below and look to be on the way up.

Michael Skubala seems to have dropped out of favour.

Wilder is doing about right for the squad we have isn't he? Sold the main attacking threat and not replaced them and sitting above mid-table.
Club sold out main attacking threats, we get an attacking replacement in Rommel but he doesn’t play him, it’s these sort of decisions that are baffling and why the fan base are turning on him.. #Wildersaur

I have been a Wilder fan but I am coming to the point where I think he is yesterday's man. Ever since we got promoted to EPL in 2019 our recruitment has been really poor under Wilder. Is that him or our recruitment department? If the latter he still has to take overall responsibility. Look at teams like Coventry who were largely a selling club in the Champ but always seemed to replace with as good or better and got promoted without parachute payments. CW's recruitment this season (albeit he has been made to sell our best players) has shown no imagination or unearthed any gems (apart from Donovan). I would love to see a younger Rising star. But look how many new managers we had in L1. If you get recruitment wrong you end up with Selles or Adkins. Maybe we are better with the devil we know!

We could be Burnley????? Careful what you wish for. On the record, not a big Wilder fan, but to sell his top three creative players was like pressing the self destruction button.
Cheers John; it's a while since we've had a "careful what you wish for".

Tough League some hard teams in there.

We don't actually know though on other options which is the problem to your point. We don't know the budget, who turned us down etc. I'd agree re Shackleton because he was signed when we did have a bigger budget. The rest from this summer or January are much harder to know. We know Wilder said some players had turned us down in the summer gone.

We do t know how high the wages are neither on your point on high wages. They had big wages previously but they doesn't mean big wages when they signed.

In my opinion I do think we could benefit from a director of football who knows the foreign markets but there's little point if we don't have the budget to sign quality foreign players neither! There's a lot of average players abroad who are no getter than what we have.
