We won 4-0 there in the 1972 Watney Cup too. I was there for both 1972 and 1982 matches.Saw that scoreline and i was instantly transported back to April 1982 and watching United win by the same scoreline in a midweek division 4 promotion crunch match at London Road, where King Keith got a brace, Jeff King, and Colin Morris scored in front of a packed away end. Morris being absolutely superb. Was quite the night. Over 44 years ago now. Where does the time go.

Who did we beat 7-3 at home in a midweek match in early 80's?
Always thought it was Peterborough but apparently not?

Fabulous night - one of many great adventures that season - my mate & I were working in Brum and drove down there in his newly acquired Alfasud.Saw that scoreline and i was instantly transported back to April 1982 and watching United win by the same scoreline in a midweek division 4 promotion crunch match at London Road, where King Keith got a brace, Jeff King, and Colin Morris scored in front of a packed away end. My abiding memory of that match was seeing Steve Charles, so wound up about the match and its importance and despite being 2 or 3 up, giving Jeff King? some excessive verbals, when he made a mistake on the edge of our penalty area. Charles was certainly pumped up for that match.Ridiculous atmosphere that night. One of my favourites.

Had to go to school the next morning ( a bit hungover) and I swear my body was still vibrating. The noise on that end was, well, memorable. My abiding memory of that match was seeing Steve Charles, so wound up about the match and its importance and despite being 2 or 3 up, giving Jeff King? some excessive verbals, when he made a mistake on the edge of our penalty area.
