A plea to our tame Influencers

Fans understand selling players to keep a club running, what seems incomprehensable is to not replace assets sold with other assets that can be sold in the future, ie players we own rather than pure loans.
And that's the point isn't it? No one is making it comprehensible. Cloth cutting is what it is, and If like to think the Rumbles, Pinches, 4 Blades, Hodcasts, Tufties, Roys('view from the accounts' doesn't really have the right ring, admittedly), SheffUnitedWays of our community could come up with ways of explaining things that a dullard like me could get their head around.

I think I've got this all wrong. I thought the likes of Sheff Utd Way were content creators or vloggers.

I always thought an influencer was a young girl who uses photoshop to make it look like she has enormous lips and a fat arse and is desperately trying to influence people that she's a dickhead.
I always thought they were people who showed all their followers pictures of peaceful places in the Peak District which then turn out not to be peaceful because everyone then rocks up there to get a photo for insta.

Can you use your reach to attempt to squash the narrative/educate the overall fan base on the financial reality for us this year?

Fire Sale. Asset Stripping. Pocketing the transfer money. All tales being told repeatedly online to explain the club's actions.

Thanks.
What's the narrative?

Totally get where you are coming from RJ and respect your views as a seasoned forum contributor. However, those terms have to be used as the owners are failing to communicate so no one can ‘explain’ why we are skint etc. so all fans can do is speculate on what looks like a duck, waddles like a duck then barks.
The owners are setting the narrative not these mystery ‘influences’ you speak of.

Asset stripping is a term that has to be used? The only people l’ve seen level the term against the owners don’t even understand what it means. (And have probably got it from some equally feebly minded “influencer”) Lowering the value of the club by selling its assets just to pay the bills is hardly asset stripping is it?

Loss of parachute payments, trading losses to cover as is normal in this league obviously calls for cost cutting. Use all the fancy terms you want but it simply suggests a huge lack of funding/investment on the playing side a determination to keep within the SCR rules and the hope of staying clear of the relegation zone. Then imagine a similar situation next season. Who will we have to sell?

Choudhury - our biggest earner - wow

He had a contact on £50K a week at Leicester. He’s hardly going to rip it up to help LCFC and join us for £25K a week.

We’ve taken over his contract.

However it expires at the end of the year and I expect a Jairo situation. We’ll probably offer £15K a week and his agent will look for bigger offers from other clubs.

If there’s not much interest from other club then expect him to sign a new contract on much reduced terms .

Rightly or wrongly, I think 'influencer' is the collective noun for Instagram/ticktok models and people producing content. I actually don't know if any of the former linked with United, so my use of the term was around the Video/Audio content creation side.

Being an influencer sounds good, repeat after me, there is no fire sale, there is no asset stripping, there is no trousering of transfer fees. Do it repeatedly over and over and others will believe it, do it all the time, and you might start to believe it yourself.
Anyone listening to influencers can't have a mind of their own and can't think for themselves, the joys of social media eh! And I always though influencers were young ladies with pumped up lips, arses and tits wearing very few clothes, maybe I'm looking at the wrong content.

I'd be interested to see actual numbers backing this up. My instinct is to think the same, but I suspect the saved wages would fall well short of the £30M required

Choudhury, supposedly on 50K a week, supposedly our highest earner. That's £2.5Mish a year. We'd need to get rid of 12 players earning, supposedly our highest salary to break even. Not to mention filing those squad places with 'cheaper' loans, ignoring bonuses, signing on fees for Free Agents etc etc etc.
sure to god the club isn't paying him 50k a week I heard he took a massive cut ( not his hair) to come here .

Well if this is true then its pathetic recruitment and use of club finances, over 2 million a year for a league 1 level defender. Finance which may have been the difference in persuading Barnsley to sell and us to have a new number 10

It's Wilder that will have wanted him.

Plenty of blame to be levelled at the owners but a lot can put at Wilder's door as well with decisions like this.

I wish that these influencers would influence those two clown-like owners to do something.

Going off the Bochum WhatsApp a lot of blades can barely scrape a modicum together between them, so maybe that’s where we’re going wrong.
You should have gone on Jimmy’s premium Bochum WhatsApp group, that’s where all the brains trust were. It was a steal at £100 for the week.

I don't believe this for a minute. There's no way we would pay him 50k a week in our current situation.

Where are you getting this information from?

I would imagine that from the very top of the PL to the bottom of L2 every club has those who absolutely slate the owners , manager and players.

Were absolutely no different in a world where keyboard warriors rule , the press have to soeculate rather than report with lots of ITKers who know nothing .

In the world of the blind the one eyed man ( or claims to have one eye ) is king.
