If O’Hare is sold, the owners really need to show there is a proper plan in place.

Most fans understand that players get sold and sometimes good offers are hard to turn down. But if one of our biggest assets goes for serious money, supporters will expect a decent amount of that to be put back into the squad.

You cannot keep talking about loans and free transfers while selling valuable players and expect people not to question where the money is going.

Fans will back the club through a lot, but there has to be ambition and there has to be reinvestment.

If O’Hare goes and we are still shopping mainly in the loan and free transfer market, I think a lot of supporters will lose patience with the owners.

I think the problem is while ever Wilder is present, the fan base will be pretty mollified, the trust and belief in Wilder, especially when he's not dropping the owners in it (he's dropped a few hints but no outright attack on them) will override any anger to the owners and I think an attitude of 'we had to sell x ' will prevail

We needed to sell players to plug a 40 m hole and we've not pulled in half of that

Those are the simple economic facts

Not specifically aimed at you Frank, general question from someone who doesn't pay that close attention to the finances - isn't it only a 40m hole if we want to keep the same level of expenditure as last season? Which I'm sure we're not at given the players who've left and the ones who've arrived.

A 40m dip in income sure, but it's not like it's mandatory to sell 40m of players to patch that is it?

Edit: sorry, that sounds really confrontational 😂 not my intention, genuinely curious

When and how do we protest whilst supporting the players (ie no boycott) but making our voices heard?

I'm surprised so many haven't twigged on to the fact we are clearly in big trouble financially. A points deduction at this point after selling our 3 best players and we'll be looking at relegation. Financial issues wont be getting any better throughout the season either which is the biggest concern.

You are correct it’s a mixture of sales and wage bill reductions.
The most pressing gap we have is that we owe around £22m net on transfers.

On the original point I think it’s time to accept the owners are no longer interested and the club will be up for sale.

The James Bord AI venture was a bag of wank, but at least it resembled a plan. A bad one, but a strategy nonetheless. And we were told and all knew what they were trying to do.

This window, we've just flogged our best players and either not bothered to replace them, or when we have its loans from Wilders little black book.

They've gone from bad to worse and left our manager desperately patching holes in a sinking ship.

All while the owners sit radio silent on a backdrop of court cases.

The benefit of the doubt has now gone. This pair we've got now are demonstrably useless. And as Sheffield United owners, they're not exactly measured against a high bar.

Jesus Christ. Settle in for the long haul, Blades. 😔

If we are so financially we'll run. Decreases in wage bills also contribute to this. If it is indeed a big hole.

Sales we know and expect to an extent. It's replacements that are worrying.
There are usually reasons players are still available on a free and loan market can be good but it's a stopgap for a season.

With O Hare now departing to the powerhouse that is Wrexham we need an adequate perm signing.

I know tis not coming though. Might not even manage a loan.

No intention to be confrontational here, but how do you know that we owe £22m net on transfers? Is that something that can be gleaned from accounts? I'm just trying to be informed without actually trying to understand the accounts.

Whilst many on here state that we shouldn't be selling players without adequate replacements , some are stating we should get rid of the owners ( how exactly) forgetting theres not a queue of billionaires out there.

The transfer market has gone silly in the PL and now championship clubs chasing top 8 are joining in.

Maybe its a one off , maybe after our flirtations with the PL and parachutes its our last chance to properly stabilise financially , start a new page.

Whatever moans and groans I hope we can get behind the team , starting tonight and surprise a few people.

UTB .

No its fine I dont have real understanding other than what im told from.people close to the club the wage bill takes us close to scr and the owners are able / willing to cover 15 m other than that if we spend we have to sell first
Thats my rudimentary understanding

Oh also clearing the decks now and then replacing with loans and frees on short term contracts puts us in a stronger position next season with scr

Smart planning from the boys. We're going to need to be in League One.

Asset stripping has become a phrase to adopt when people are pissed off with owners, but it's simply not true here. As others have said, we've got a massive dip in income, the owners were idiots to listen to Bord, idiots to listen to Wilder and the money spent over the past couple of seasons has been thrown down a fucking well and has us in the position we do now.

They came into this knowing nothing about football and Bettis should have told them to take a fucking breath and bring in someone to manage the football operations including purse strings.

There will be a surprise tonite alright.

I'm just wondering which of our players might get my arse off my seat......i cant think of any as the three that used to do that have been sold.

Cuntin bastard American owners. :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

We've been slowly Asset Stripping since 2020.

The Prince indirectly did this, the new owners look to be doing this more brazenly. The extent of which will become clear in the coming months.

I feel a lot of similarities between this year and 2011
Its only asset stripping if the money raised doesnt go back into.the club
So far everything is

Which assets would these be?
