I though it might be worth having one thread to discuss today’s moves, be that ours or our divisional rivals.

For what it’s worth I can see the following:

Out - Blacker, Grbic, Zatterstrom, Ukaki - all loans. O’Hare, Cannon - both sales

In - Kitching (loan), Cleary (buy), Big lump attacker (loan)

I just hope the players we bring in have outstanding attributes ie good pace, aerially dominant etc none of this jack of all trades like Cannon where he isn’t outstanding at anything.

What's happened to that CB we were after from Brighton(?) who was a free agent and had been training with us? Have I missed something?

I think interest has cooled a bit. He’s had a long lay off and I reckon the club realise it will taken him a while to get up to speed and don’t want to risk missing out on a loan that is good to go now.

It will be interesting what happens to Souttar today.

Saints losing Harewood-Bellis but going for a centre half from Forest rather than Souttar.

I read one article saying Leicester might come for McGuinness if Souttar looks like leaving.

Not the worst outcome for all parties would be:
United get 6.5m or more for O’Hare.
We use 3m of that and McGuinness to secure Souttar.
We use the remaining 3.5m to get Cleary.
We sell Cannon for 7-10m and BBD moves to a CF option with Bamford.
We get Kitching on loan.

Gives us stronger defence, a more reliable forward line and some added pace plus pushes the cash surplus even further.

I’d hope for this sort of outcomes if difficult decisions are being made.

Can sign free agents whenever and he doesn't seem to have clubs queuing up for him so probably one for tomorrow if today goes pear shaped.

I think it will cost more than 3.5 to get Cleary, probably looking at 5mill
I do think Leicester might blink, problem for them might be can they carry his wage
If we do sell COH and even Cannon then we should be able to carry Souttar wage
So I reckon we loan Souttar with option to buy and they loan McGuiness with option to buy
If we did buy Cleary then that leaves one matchday loan option which I think will go on a striker

Also think if we don’t loan striker we could go for that former Luton lad who is a free Adeboyer ???

Saying all that though if I get home tonight and we have sold COH and Cannon with no one coming in it will be totally expected and no surprise

Even though Cannon is disliked by many fans this window, if we sell Hamer/COH and him and bring little in, will be up there and remembered nearly as much as the Deano/Fjortoft window

Ideal world, this is good read IMO. The 'Ins' are the sticking point. We don't know if Cleary is even connected ( wish he was), the big lump / nippy winger on loan is an obvious move. The likelyhood of either happening are dependent of the CoH and Cannon outs though.

If the talk of us taking on Choudhury's contract as is, but forgoing a fee is correct (I suspect it is, given CW's explicit 'some good business' comment in yesterday's presser) then it shows a willingness on Leicesters part to be flexible (realistic actually) so a deal for SouttarxMcGuinnessxCashxContract could be on the table.

i think if we sell coh and cannon the souttar and cleary deals could well be back on plus if we loan kitching we would be sorted at centre back even if mcguinness went but if cannon does go we have to bring another striker in and still think cameron archer could do a job for us at this level

That loan with option is tricky. We seem down the line with Kitching. That’s him, Donovan, Phillips, BBD. We’re already at 4. I think we’ll keep one loan for a forward if Cannon goes.

I'm back at work today, at least in a public-facing way for the first time in weeks and delivering training. I won't get chance to check this place - which may well be a blessing?

I'm expecting...

Out: Loans for fringe players, O'Hare, potentially even Burrows or Peck.

In: Nothing. Genuinely. Or at least, no creative players. Kitching at the very most.

See you on the other side. Let's hope the owners aren't twats.

Four hours in and this is working well, with none of the usual ant--Wilder infiltration.

Let's see how today develops then, and you never know, we might even be able to discuss any transfer business on its own merits.

Yeh agree, I went loan with option due to limited time frame, I also think in this scenario that Souttar and Kitching would be most likely to play every week with Wilder rotating the other 3 matchday places between Phillips/BBD/Donavon/other loan and Dougherty

The bit I fail to get for Tom Cannon is due to the sell on clause with Peterborough we need to be selling him on for £7-8mill or poss £6mill with add ons to make it worthwhile. If we do do that we have today at 23:00 to bring in a replacement. With Marsh going out the door on loan unless we have already have our hands on a replacement (likely to be a loan) who are we replacing him with.

The “2nd arising” and similar age at the time of Billy Sharp was of a similar flop here mainly overshadowed by his strike partner. We either need to be overloading the midfield (standard) or this piece of business should have been done in July. I am not a Wilder fan but will back the team, I don’t understand the constant anti Tom Cannon narrative, he might not fit the formation of hoof ball but he can’t be blamed for that.

Wouldn’t be against Archer coming back, wouldn’t be my first choice but would take him

Peterborough ?

Cannon has never played for Peterborough, we dont owe the club anything if we sell him.

Feels like the mood could dramatically turn after today. O'Hare goes and we get beat tonight and the reaction will not be good. Could be getting ugly by the end of the season for the owners. We need at least 4 if COH is off which feels a stretch

Right now given time frame we have I would be looking at a big target man so would be looking around for one of that Ilk
not against that suggestion especially if we persist with the tactic of cooper hoofing it forward every time possibly a loan signing from the premier league mind cant think of anybody

Any deal to get Cannon off the books is worthwhile.

We aren’t making money on him because he’s proven he’s not very good. It’s just a case of getting rid so we can play with 11 again and not 10 + a passenger.

Yes, I know he did ok at the weekend, but one swallow doesn’t make a summer.

if o'hare and cannon both go minimum of 3 have to come in looks like kitching is 1 and i would like us to add cleary and another striker

Yeh thats my problem and why im not against bringing archer back, trying to find someone in 24 hours isn’t ideal

I think I'd take being a player light if it meant recouping something on Cannon. I think we need 2 creative midfielders if COH goes. Then a forward and CB. It's not looking good.
