Andy Giddings (?)

How pleased about Hamza?

- free transfer (think he said?), experiece, attitude, never seen a happier player come thru the door, a winner, 2 promotions out this div, arguably best player in PO final - him and Ben bolster sqaud

Players you know can do it better than gambling?

- yeah talked about it last week, been a decline in PL loans last few years. Squad seen good players go but also come in

Why 1 year deal?

- hoping it'll turn out to be 3-4 yrs

Anything else b4 deadline?

- still a centre half short, working on that, fishing in a small pond

O'Hare latest?

- there has been a bid from Wrexham, not surprised, good player, dont personally want him to go

Other players leaving/ going out on loan - Marsh, Curtis, Grbic?

- Louis and Sam need 1st team football (didnt mention Grbic)

Seriki/Burrows how long out for?

- keeping that close, not med/long term but no timescale

Other injures post Cardiff?

- yeah we're ok, subs were tactical, weren't at our best but still a result, tricky 3 games, and some travelling take it's toll a bit

Bolton?

- beat Preston, drew QPR, talked about energy that comes from promotion, big club good to see back, big away following probs

-----

Danny Hall

(struggled to hear it , summat about xfer deadline chaos?)

- yeah it's mental. 90% my focus now on preparing team for Bolton

What';s it like last stages of window?

- long answer ... like talking to players, be nice to get it done early but u know it's coming and have to deal with it.

Is it a test of nerves, not just grabbing any available?

- felt like Villa were bugging our phones a few years ago and then could afford to pay more, bit like Wrexham can now

Summat about O'Hare (struggle to tell what DH is saying TBH)

- he's getting on with it

again missed question

- summat about we are covered in middle now, Femi can play higher

----

3rd interviewer (not sure who it was, Stu?)

at what point on the night if things aren't resolved to you give up?

-
lot of people invlolved, I'm just one, but can be last min with outs and ins

how important is Bettis relationship?

- Yes very, on same page, don't allus agree, I have full faith in my coaching staff as well

Presume Callum will stay professional now?

- he's been first class all way thru

Lots of experience now must be pleased with that side of it

- yes, don't want stock up on serial failures/relegations on CV

Oli McB mentioned naivety last time went up might have been a factor?

Yeh, can get scarred by it but we have got some good players

Missed last question as stream buffered

O'Hare leaves.

We bring in an underwhelming centre half.

That's our business.

It's so crazy.

We're a nothing team. No character. No spark. We've been neglected.

Feels like when Blackwell was in charge.
Yeah … well no doubt sell O Hare to Wrexham for £5 million and not bring in anyone. But then will bring in Adam Webster on a free later in Sept - who won’t be fit until October.

I doubt we’ll ever see our owners at Bramall Lane ever again. Not after the Prince shit show & this fire sale.

"We're covered in the middle and Seriki can play higher if needed"

I retract any hopes about this season. Just relegate us now
We're get shafted from both sides.

Owners who are selling anything that moves and a manager who thinks we have enough creativity at top end of pitch.

I can understand the selling mentality - we have restrictions ect we have to meet - but surely players like COH are on a big "DO NOT SELL" list?

We need creativity even if O’Hare stays! Just a centre half? Fucking unbelievable!

But Femi can player higher.

A right back.

Who's injured.
This post from yesterday was more accurate than we thought...
Interviewer: Chris, modern football is increasingly about young, strong, athletic, quick players. Physicality, mobility, pace. And surely, in the modern game, bringing in foreign players with different technical and tactical backgrounds is hugely important?

Chris Wilder: No.

Interviewer: No?

Chris Wilder: No. I know better.

Interviewer: So what are you looking for in a player?

Chris Wilder: None of that.

Interviewer: None of what?

Chris Wilder: Young. Strong. Quick. Athletic. Foreign. Technical. Tactical. Don't need it.

Interviewer: So what do you want?

Chris Wilder: I want a player who's got the wrong position, the wrong foot, and preferably no pace.

Interviewer: And that's your recruitment strategy?

Chris Wilder: That's part of it.

Interviewer: What's the other part?

Chris Wilder: Going back.

Interviewer: Going back where?

Chris Wilder: Players who've already been here.

Interviewer: Players who have previously played for the club?

Chris Wilder: Exactly.

Interviewer: Even if they were part of an unsuccessful season?

Chris Wilder: Especially if they were.

Interviewer: Why?

Chris Wilder: Older now. Wiser now.

Interviewer: So you're looking for players who have already failed here, but have since aged?

Chris Wilder: Correct.

Interviewer: And you think that's a key part of modern recruitment?

Chris Wilder: I know it is.

Interviewer: Right. Let's go through the squad.

Chris Wilder: Go on.

Interviewer: Burrows, left wing-back. Where's he playing, Chris?

Chris Wilder: Left-back.

Interviewer: Seriki, right wing-back?

Chris Wilder: Right-back.

Interviewer: McGuiness, right centre-back?

Chris Wilder: Left centre-back.

Interviewer: Baptiste, centre-back?

Chris Wilder: Right-back.

Interviewer: O'Hare, attacking midfielder?

Chris Wilder: Left wing.

Interviewer: Peck, originally an attacking midfielder and forward?

Chris Wilder: Defensive midfield.

Interviewer: Arblaster, central midfielder?

Chris Wilder: Defensive midfield.

Interviewer: One, centre-forward?

Chris Wilder: Left wing.

Interviewer: BBD, centre-forward or left wing?

Chris Wilder: Right wing.

Interviewer: Marsh, centre-forward?

Chris Wilder: Left wing.

Interviewer: Shackleton. Not a footballer. Where's he playing?

Chris Wilder: Football.

I guess the problem is that they're the players which other clubs want.

Ultimately, the loss of £45 million a season is a huge hole to fill.
Yes but it's all so tinpot, we are Sheffield United with 22000 ST holders, these owners do not give a flying fuck for the fans, the community it completely stinks.

I’m guessing that CW has his hands tied very tightly behind his back let’s just hope that there’s no flirtation with relegation the trouble as I see it is that come next season it all starts again because we’ll be releasing and re signing aged pros until we find a gem or the inevitable relegation happens, BL isn’t a happy place atm there’s no buzz or hopes and aspirations.

If they sell O'Hare we are truly fucked.

If they sell O'Hare we are truly fucked.

Oh, I don't know about that SLB.

We've loads of strength in depth, especially in the AM role, every one of them as good as COH.

I mean there's ... erm ... y'know ... erm ...

... and erm ... y'know ... erm ...

In seriousness, we have only one player who goes at attackers and grafts to dig the ball out or gain possession back when we've lost it, and it's Callum O'Hare. I can see why Wrexham want him and normally I'd be confident we'd have the potatoes to reject any bids for fear of weakening our squad ...

But then we're Sheffield United, aren't we?

Agreed, it is fucking unbelievable. I've had enough of this crap after five decades and will not be going to matches until there's a team worth paying money to watch. And before all the support the lads through thick and thin nonsense starts, I have done, with very little thick. When the club starts showing ambition, whoever owns it, I'll start giving them my money again.

Ask Nigel, no not Clough, Spackman.
Same happened In1998.

I know exactly how you feel, I feel the same.
I have see some rubbish in my time but have always come back for more.
I don't know if its because I am older now or that United have finally worn me down.
When i first asked my Dad if I could go and watch United I'll always remember his answer, "Yes you can, but they will always let you down".

The lack of ambition is one thing, it’s the poor use of the limited resources that is more alarming.

We’ve sold two creative players and brought in a young lad on loan and BBD. Why have we signed Phillips, Jairo and Choudhury? I can’t imagine those 3 will be cheap wages. Surely some of that money would’ve been better spent on another creative player?

Love the club but I have zero enthusiasm for this season. Been going for 40+ years and it’s rinse and repeat.
The owners are once again a fucking disgrace. I always start the season with some hope but we have no real style of playing and haven’t for 4 years at least.
Just allowing all our best players to be sold and ‘replaced’ on the cheap, with absolutely no creativity at all is a complete embarrassment.
The silence from anyone above Wilder shows nothing but contempt for the supporters.
Im pretty sure that a bad performance / result against Bolton will see some ugly scenes.

Our current style of play is to set up like it's the 85th min and we're 1-0 up. Unfortunately we do this from minute 1 and it's 0-0
