Getting into the ground today

Mine never worked last season Live too far away to get there too early Given up and not renewed
I live 100 miles away so I always get plastic versions too. Helps is several ways
1. I don’t trust technology or the people that work it (and I work in that industry)
2. The two ST we have are for Ken Jnr and I and when he can’t go to a game Mrs Ken goes with me. Yes, I know you can share the NFC with another person but see point 1.
3. What if I lost my phone, some scumbag nicks it or the battery dies reyt affore kick off (see point 1.)
4 I like to have something tangible in my non virtual wallet, with Blades branding on, my name and my seat number. Something that doesn’t look like a blank piece of plastic that could be confused with a hotel key card.

I'm 73, so not exceptionally tech savvy, but this season I thought that I'd risk it and go for the season ticket on my phone. I've even put some credit cards in my Google wallet along with other passes, going the full monty. I approached turnstile no. 69 (I'm a sad bastard over things like that 😏) with trepidation, but hey ho I was successfully through. Pity the game was a damp squid, but technology and United, never in doubt 🙄.

Bert has a plastic season ticket card, he also found to his surprise that it can also be put on his phone.
He tried the phone one and it worked.
Bert may fond that by using his phone app ,his card may now he annulled.

I think thats the case but I'd check with the club .

Waltzed straight in on John Street as usual, even with the added complications of getting the eldest in whilst having hands full with a mixed meat wrap and some chips and Massala sauce.
Might have been easier on your eldest if you'd carried the mixed meat wrap and chips with Massala sauce yourself!

Not the case, I have both and before I downloaded the card on to my phone I emailed the club asking if doing this invalidated my card. They replied quickly saying it didn't and I could use either/or.

However, to give some credence to your assertion to Bert, my card failed (see my earlier post) on Saturday for the first time ever.
Coincidence?
I intend to find out tomorrow with a ticket office visit....

Nice one , interested to see how you get on .

I have a card and undertood the app invalidated it , in fact I was told that by the ticket office a couple of years ago . Maybe its changed.

As you say ,worth checking.👍

Will update you tomorrow.
Interesting you were told the opposite to me.
Left arm and right arm not in sync down in ticket office?

My grandson's junior card also failed and we have no phone version of that one, so who knows....

None of this explains why the turnstiles were shut. I walked past and thought these lot have no chance. Straight in at my turnstiles which were all open.

Bert has just exchanged emails with the ticket office.
They assured Bert that using the app does not invalidate the card.

I had intended to turn up early because last season’s first game was utter queue carnage with so many people’s season cards needing to be re-downloaded entirely.

Luckily things were fine in the SS turnstiles. I presume that’s because the season tickets are set up differently this year with no evident per-game update taking place? Not sure what the setup is tbh, but things were loads better.

People paying for a season ticket to be sent to their phone, finding it doesn't work at the turnstile and being sent round to queue at the ticket office is not fucking good enough. Same every season, get it sorted.
It’s not good enough when they could have a guy on the kop turnstiles with the device they used outside the ticket office.

But the simple solution would be for people to arrive earlier or even go and try the machine in the ticket office to check their ticket worked.

People love to blame the club/ the company nowadays but there is also a responsibility* that people could take themselves…

*I don’t always follow this advice myself
