I’m gonna have a moan unfortunately

1) did anyone wonder why two turnstiles on the Kop where shut to get it today? 27.5k+ in the ground today yet for some reason all the turnstiles were not open which caused quite a bit of congestion..
2) Season tickets do not seem to work on my phone anymore! Had this problem last season, and hasn’t changed for this season either. But when I went round to the ticket office to get it rectified the queue was massive at 17:25 meaning I missed the first 10/15 mins. Grumble at the Box Office who didn’t seem to give two fucks about anything other than what time their shift finishes.

Poor!

Rant over - decent point today but quite underwhelming UTB

South Stand, Lane end.
Was probably 2 or 3 minutes later than I wanted to be.
A bit of a queue, but moved okay. Didn't see any issues with the NFC's. Saw kick off.

No doom and gloom here 👍

Waltzed straight in on John Street as usual, even with the added complications of getting the eldest in whilst having hands full with a mixed meat wrap and some chips and Massala sauce.

People paying for a season ticket to be sent to their phone, finding it doesn't work at the turnstile and being sent round to queue at the ticket office is not fucking good enough. Same every season, get it sorted.

Bert has a plastic season ticket card, he also found to his surprise that it can also be put on his phone.
He tried the phone one and it worked.

Every season I have the same problem.
Whether it’s on a card or on my phone, I always nervously approach the turnstiles early at the first game ready for it not to work & head off to the ticket office.
And it’s never happened. Not once.
Always works as it should & rarely if ever do I see anyone else having a problem either - as long as they use the equipment properly.

I get the sentiment here.
First game - will it work?
Always has and never let me down.....until yesterday!
Both mine (senior) and grandsons (junior) refused to work. Steward came in and tried it (as if I wasn't capable or summat🙄), then sent me and now very concerned grandson to ticket office (17.15hrs). Queuing outside my first thought was 'gonna miss kick off '.
However, lots of staff on behind counters and dealing with issues quickly.
Not long before I was explaining to young lady the problem and she quickly issued paper tickets and we were in our seats as teams emerged.
My first thought was I'd picked up last season's cards by mistake and tried explaining this to the lass but the noise in the ticket office was so loud we could hardly hear each other.
I think she got the gist and took my season cards off me when she issued the paper tickets. Asked me to check at home to see if I had indeed picked up the wrong cards and if not, they would reissue new cards.
Checked this morning and the two cards in the drawer were last season's. So quite why the new ones didn't work is a mystery...
Quite happy with the way the staff dealt with my issue, can never understand why people take their frustrations out of the counter staff.

I'm almost completely certain that for anyone not getting an NFC season ticket to work on their phone is a you/your phone problem and not a fault of the club.
Not sure about that. Last season loads of Android phones (including mine) were not working or took 4 or 5 attempts to get in. They kept updating the pass between games but made no difference.

Also there does seem to be a small number who don't work opening day despite following club instructions.

I am sure it is the same at other clubs too so it's not just United. The system is not perfect but the club have to move with the times.

My biggest issue is those having problems have to go to the ticket office. Why cant those stewards nearby have a way of connecting to the system to sort it out? Not sure what the point of those stewards being by the turnstiles when they simply shrug and say try again. Or go to the ticket office. Not their fault but surely they could be empowered to do more in 2026 and not rely on 4 or 5 on computers. Why cant they have tablets to do the same? Seen it at loads of other clubs. They then scan fans in, if satisfactory checks are made?

Good points

However, the words of advice offered by said stewards has been pre programmed into them - and they are the only words they know

"So, Abdullah what makes you think you would make a good steward for Sheffield United?"

"I have the ability to wear a fluorescent jacket."

"Next question, where do you see yourself in 5 years time?"

"I see myself standing in this same spot being unhelpful."

"Son, You're hired - you'll go a long way."

"Please sir, I already came a long way...."

My thoughts exactly Deadbat.
