Me as a kid when my parents said Santa wasn't coming because he has no money this year
Could be true but I just think it’s wilder mind games cos why tell everyone what your budget actually is? Everyone knows including us fans know we’re “Skint” but yet we’ve bid this money for Souttar and showing interest in Anel m

I think most if not all United fans who watched that game today, wouldnt want us to sign Souttar from what we saw.

If Cannon defends like Souttar for the County goal, he gets absolutely battered.

From what ive seen of Souttar over recent games, im not sure he's the player of 2 years ago.

IF United are still interested, its a big risk at the reported fee IMO.
McGuinness excellent today.

Signing for wrexham this weekend.
The next two weeks will tell us all we need to know about our new owners . All will out .

They wanted us , but they seem to not know what to do with us .

You look around BDTBL today , sunshine , great support , lovely ground , good atmosphere , looks and sounds brilliant on TV (ground and supporters , not playing performance) - yet we can`t , and never ever have , imo , attracted an owner / consortium who effectively and sustainably back us , taking advantage and harnessing all of the above .

We seem to be run by amateurs .

It really is like a curse

We’ve gone from there’s no money, to here’s 10m for your CB, to “no permanent signings this window” in a month. Good times.

I reckon from Wilders interview - we’ll sign Anel on loan & the Souttar deal is off. Yes he said again we made a bid & it’s with Bettis etc - but talked more positively about Anel - how he left on good terms/ left sided player etc.

Didn’t have a lot to do? Birmingham were an attacking threat and him and Tanganga dealt with it all, McG brilliant in the air all game.
Honestly I wasn't that impressed with brum , if you watch a lot of the ball they won was due to sloppy passing by United, I know it's 40 years
and its a lot different now but I played centre half before injury finished me , mcg is actually quite calm in his defending and just (IMO) let's himself down on passing.
Midfield didn't work for me today peck needs someone like Phillips or jairo with him neither peck or Rothwell wanted to do the dirty work in front of mcg and tanganga ( both of whom tidied up well) which took a lot away from our attacking , one of my old gaffers always said you always need wide players with " chalk on their boots " you're not going to get that with cannon on the pitch !!

No he's back to saying we aren't going to do permanents which is different

He actually said "we can't do permanent, permanent, permanent.." which seemed to imply that we would still do one permanent, but that is it. Seen as though we haven't signed any permanents so far and he has already said he expects more loans, I think Souttar is still on, unless we get priced out.

I think its all brinkmanship at this point. Leicester playing around at their end, Harry likely annoyed by it all hence his poor performance today.

We upset the cricket Gods. Not the football Gods who are weak in comparison.
Knock the S stand down, returf its remains and the car park, Build a new old style pavillion to appease the Gods.
Play cricket again. Curse lifted.
Sorted.

You may be on to something

In 1975 (i think) i played in the supporters club - under 14 - 5 a-side final before the last home game of the season v QPR (Silent - was it that season ? ended 1-1) . I played for Aston, and we lost 3-0 v Eckington under 14`s (there was no way they were under 14 - most of their team drove to the ground and had beards - that was just the women)

Anyway , we got changed in the old cricket pavilion before the game, as the Lane was still 3 sided , i distinctly remember a voice eerily vibrating through the oak beamed eaves and oak panelled walls . It sounded like the wind - remember this was in 1975 . I think i heard - but can`t fully confirm - the words were something like...

....you have to die for fkin three points ....

Anyhow - we lost 3-0 , cricket ended , the pavilion was knocked down and the curse started .

Yes I think that's right.

Also to correct my post, I forgot that Doherty is a permanent, but signed on a free.

That's what he said on BBC. On sky he said what I said 🤷‍♂️

It seems like we are hanging all our hopes on a centre half as if it’s going to suddenly make us an exciting, dangerous, free flowing attacking team.

It’s not.

Loved Souttar first time round. Absolute colossus and would love to have him back. However, if we have £10mill to spend, we would be crazy to lump it all on him.

If he was an addition to other areas then fine but he won’t be.

I’m pretty sure we could spend £5mill apiece on a centre half and a quality attacking midfielder who would make us an all round better team.
