Anel

The way this could be possible is if he still owns a house here he could move straight back into

At this fairly late stage in the window it could be an easy and convenient thing for him to come back here on loan until January

Still think it's very unlikely and the Anel clan are just wumming

A house perhaps or maybe got a few bits and bobs still in storage here - does that kind of thing factor in such decisions these days?

Didn't say he can't defend, but there's no way he's a better defender than Souttar. On most metrics, yes he's better, as you say.
i think we need to take these souttar tinted glasses off lol he had half a season for us and was solid but hes still no guarentee he will be back to his best or not another injury waiting to happen im suprised were taking such a risk tbh when were already in financial crisis

I think his missus and kids really bought into it over here you know. He retired from international duty, he does have history of picking family/happiness/pride of his career
His missus absolutely didn’t buy into it over here and never settled. And his kids were too young to buy into anything.

Well the house he bought in Dore hasn't sold since he moved to the Netherlands and it's not on the market either. Not like the house wouldn't sell either, stunning property

We should try our best not to let that happen.

I wonder if Southampton would be tempted by Tanganga instead?

It'd be very disappointing to see Anel turn out for another EFL club, but a parachute club could understandably offer a more sizeable package.

What we shouldn't do is see Anel as a Plan B to Souttar. As others have said, an Anel / Tanganga partnership would likely not work.

It might not be Southampton but we'll definitely miss out to someone who could offer a more sizeable package.

Story of my life.

We really need to stop looking at ex players. But, if there is anything in this, he’s far superior to Souttar in practically every metric.
He’s a totally different type of defender.

I shudder to think what a Tanganga/Anel pairing would be like. Both need a Souttar alongside.

Come on Wilder, bang on the boardroom door, scream on the Zoom call. If another championship club (albeit, parachute one) are looking at him, it’s open season for us providing something, somehow can be done financially to make this transfer happen.

We know Leicesters position is to stretch the Souttar deal out until the last second in the hope they can charge a premium fee after a bidding war. Bin it I say, and go for Anel instead. Fuck being held hostage by Russell Martin and a up for sale league one club.

Time to apply the rule of two thirds.

Is he better than Souttar - No
Do we need a CB - Yes
Is he an upgrade on what we have - Yes

Two out of three, go get him. Then look at Alex Murphy from Newcastle on loan, granted at 22 he’s fresh, but made his champions league debut and is desperate for game time.

Is it possible that a sizeable package could actually be too big for Anel?

Sorry I’ve never made an Anel joke on here before, that’s my one and only childish entry now I’m out.

(Ps would love him to return but can’t see it honestly)

Go get Anel and loan Alex Murphy or Juma Bah. Love Souttar but not being held hostage by lord farquaad at Leicester

Seth its not that simple, as many have pointed out an Anel//Tanganga partnership wouldn't work. They both need a big hard man centre back alongside to be at their best.

Can't see any chance of this unless Tanganga is sold. If we brought Souttar and Anel in and kept Tanganga wed be paying a fortune in wages to CBs ( not including McGuiness who is still here)

I understand the thought process behind a hard man. But Anel would make sense financially because you could get him in and 18 months of wages for the same amount Souttars price is being reported. He’s an upgrade on what currently supports Tanganga. His injury record is limited in comparison. He’s just played 26 games for a team that finished 2nd (albeit Dutch football)

Totally agree. We can’t let another team in the division get Anel if he is prepared to come back to UK.

Makes you realise what a good team we had 2 years back and how unfortunate it was to drop on two 100 point rivals.

That bloody week as well. Plymouth, now Leage One, Oxford same. Bloody hell!

Still the same players didnt manage to do so well in the head to heads vs the top two either, for all their ability. That said, Soutter stays fit and we’re on 100+ points looking down on the other two.

If there's enough for 8m+ for Souttar, spend less then that on Anel. Wages might be a problem if we are competing with Southampton but we have let a lot of big earners go. Make it happen, like Souttar, he's top level Championship but no injury concerns.

No idea , Wit is probably your best bet :)
That's a thought, how many players do you think CW has put contact with his untamed property magnet friend? Said friend must love having contacts so close to overpaid footballers with partners of exacting tastes...
