Player Suggestion Souttar played and scored last night

Leicester can sit tight knowing we’ll just keep increasing the bids. My source initially stated £3m before the World Cup and that’s steadily risen to a whopping £10m.

At this point my concern is we have no other plan, and seemingly no limit to what we’ll bid.

If this goes ahead we’re down £2m on Brooks already, money which we could accept wouldn’t be invested in a creative replacement due to needing to fund the shortfall. That’s going on Souttar, and then some, potentially.

Has the narrative changed? Are we now swimming in cash?

We need to go back and say final offer and be prepared to walk away. Unfortunately it seems like we have no plan B.

Clear the finances are not what they seem IF we do end up spending £10m on a player or more than one player.
If we don't end up spending money like that then it's hard to say how serious we really were on these bids.

This either means that the shortfall required wasn't that much, OR that we have had some new cash injection, OR that we are confident in more of our own player sales (Peck or an One or Burrows or even McGuinness).

Its okay even if it gets to the end hes talking about, as we can just sell club & wipe any debts off, dont pay any other local businesses and ensure we have zero points following next season or any transfer embargos so we can start fresh. All good.

I think its hurting them thinking or "knowing" we're in admin or serious trouble yet able to sign players (woth no parachute money) in deals worth nearly more than their entire football club.
 
I personally think the reported £10m is too much for Souttar, but I can understand why the club are still pursuing it. Not every available CB is going to fit the mould. We need a leader/captain, someone to organise the back line and be commanding/strong in the air. Souttar does fit the criteria and maybe other available options just aren't as suitable.
 
Stay with me before pointing and firing. If Souttar is worth 10 million today then what happens if he’s not available on Saturday and he plays for Leicester does that mean he’s added value to Leicester and taken away some of his value to us? In which case could we not put pressure on by pointing out the bid will reduce by £x ffor each match he’s not available to play for us and also each match he plays for Leicester. not saying it would work and I’m sure it’s incredibly naive but it would make me feel a little better.!

I guess we will find out soon enough but it appears that 2 bids have been rejected including one of £10m. The latter is a lot more than most of us expected we would go to so it suggests we are putting all our eggs in the Souttar basket. Also as it stands we will go with McGuiness as starting CB on Saturday after Wilder has said more than once hes not in his plans and that he can find another club. Wilder has also said that we need 2 CBs but we havent signed one yet. All of which suggest we dont have a viable plan B to Souttar. Hopefully we wont need one but it's looking like we are going to end up paying a lot of money for Souttar.

We cannot go beyond 10 ! They would have our pants down. Move on!
 
We shouldn't be bidding anywhere near £10m if that is the case. Especially if there's no other clubs also bidding for him then we should have the upper hand in the negotiation, not Leicester. Plus they still probably need to sell him for their own finances and not to mention you could make a good guess that Souttar 100% won't want to be playing in League 1 this season.
 
He could get injured playing Saturday then we would be back to square 1 looking for someone else. He could refuse to play if he really wants to come back
 
I think Wet spam were quoted 20 odd million for soliman from spurs, what did they end up paying 7 million standing thier ground 🤔 Harry's NOT worth 10 million blades should pull out of the deal,Big H shows off wants out,and Leicester come offering him to us,as nobody else is bothered at that ridiculous price ,and Leicester need to move him on,just keep ya powder dry Blades till the price is realistic .

Completely agree, I think if we'd have been a bit more proactive we should have probably just signed Souttar when he was injured. We'd have probably got him for £3/4m

Solomon was never a 20mil player, even after his promotion season with Leeds I believe they weren't even quoted that

Problem with Wrexham is that they're not just offering a load of cash, through the Disney stuff they're also offering players a unique chance to raise their profile globally and especially in the US.
Souttar's a very distinctive looking chap so he's bound to stand out and get noticed in their documentary series. Look how the yanks have just gone crazy for Haaland during the world cup and most of that seems to be based on his physical attributes and him being a bit of a character rather than him being a world class striker.
It's got to be tempting to a player and probably guarantees you at least a nice MLS contract later down the line if you can make it work.
 
Let’s hope that the Wrexham deal falls through and they take Souttar for £10m.
He just is not worth that, especially when you take into account the fact that he misses a minimum of 6 matches for Asia cup and then other internationals.

Since we got promoted in 2016/17 we have finished above them every single season. They haven't beaten us since 2012.

Tbh they aren't far off. They paid well over the odds for Rhodes at the time, and we are doing the same, by the looks of it, for Souttar. Difference being hindsight. The return on Rhodes was awful for them. Hopefully we get the big Haz of a couple of seasons ago and, if he remains injury-free, it’s good business. I’m sceptical we’ll get both or either of those scenarios, but hopefully I’m wrong.
 
This is a typical Wilder transfer target. He picks a player he wants and chases it like a dog after a ball, with tunnel vision. For me, it shows he hasn’t changed since his first reign in charge or learnt from his past mistakes.

Prince Abdullah suggested publicly that Wilder’s intense interest in Brewster drove the price up, and that a loan move might have been possible with more discreet negotiations. I believe he also criticised Wilder’s pursuit of Ramsdale in much the same way.

Talking about Souttar publicly, without any real media output to give the impression that we’re looking at alternatives, has obviously driven the price up dramatically.

10 million for a L1 player joining a now mid table championship team is too much. I really like big Haz, like the majority of us, but you could get an alternative and a good winger for the same price.
