Player Suggestion Souttar played and scored last night

Hell fire ,if true that’s a lot of moolah.

Let’s hope his injuries are behind him . Immense player if fit .

We sold Brooks for £8M. A player at the start of his career. A player with nothing but potential on his CV really. £10M for the best in position in the league, PL experience, WC International experience, a very specific exceptional talent. I don't see the issue with the price. I accept the injury record, but if there wasn't a caveat, we'd be nowhere near this.

Harry Souttar was probably the missing piece that stopped us making the play offs last season. It was blindingly obvious to everyone that the defence needed a big unit and a leader in there. That's clearly the reason he has seemingly been the top target all summer.

The problem now is we also need a creative player, as we've sold the only two we had, in order to pay for the centre half!

We will have to soldier through the first few games and hope Wilder and Bettis get one on loan.

I'm sorry, I like the guy as a player but we are absolutely having our fucking pants pulled down by Leicester for that fee.

He's on premier league money and they are in league 1. As much as they say they aren't they are desperate to get that wage off their books with the revenue they'll lose this season.

If we played the waiting game we'd get him near the end of the window for a lot less. No other club has shown the slightest concrete interest in him, we're only outbidding ourselves.

The strategic planning of our transfers windows is fucking amateur and it's costing us now and will do for years to come.

It’s a catch 22, isn’t it. He’s arguably the best CB at this level if fully fit - Millwall are there or thereabouts every season, in a large part because of that big fucker at CB. It’s quite literally “huge” at this level.

I agree, there were others to consider, but wilder has kept any money dry up to now, to get who he perceives is the most important addition we could make.

The alternative is start the season with McGuinness, Baptiste or RND (shudder) at the back and risk being thumped in the season opener, again.

Perhaps that's what the issue was, Bettis bidding against Wilder 🙄

And when it comes to SUFC and knowing the club for over 50 years, im also very reliable.

There is no way on Gods green earth that United would even consider thinking about £10m plus for HS. Totally laughable. £30m plus extras i heard.
The same club you are referring to paid 20m for Brewster, which deal is worse?

Brewster every day. Souttar is proven at this level, is captain material is a leader and a current international captain. It’s no brainer for me. Arguably he will be the best centre half in this division this season.

Not comparable. One deal actually happened (very poor one from us and when we were riding high in the PL)

The other is pure fantasy (at a price of £10m).

To answer your question, id say Brewster is a much worse deal than the fantasy deal for Souttar. Especially when you compare it to the fantasy deal that we could have for Harry Maguire for just £1m. Thats the fantasy deal we should be all over imo.

Totally agree, my point was that we have definitely spent money in recent years, (yes wrongly at times) 🤣, but the post I was replying too it was as though he was saying we don’t spend money.

Why is it fantasy?, have you got inside info on it?

If he gets back to anything like the form he showed when last with us, and given how short at the back we are depth wise it’s a price worth paying for me.

The main concern here for me is that he's only twice in his career, completed anything approaching a full season. Those were 6 or 7 years ago

No, of course not. I dont work for the club.

Whetheri think hes worth £10m or not (i dont think he is for the record) is neither here nor there and totally irrelevant to any previous post i have made.

Im saying, there.is no way on that United will be paying £10m for Harry Souttar. Not a chance. Not a scoobie, not happening, etc etc.

I do think however that Hayden Hackney was worth the £16m that Everton paid for him. Bargain. We arent going to buy him at that price either.

If true it’s just more proof the owners have no idea how to run a football club.

Yeh love to see Souter but there’s just us outbidding ourselves.

Ant and Deck on the microphone saying “now ask for another 2million”

Awful lot of money when we need a few more elsewhere. 10m is pants well and truly pulled doen
Why do we always allow ourselves to be ripped off😡
30 games in 5 years??

Just way too risky with our financial position and his injury
Maybe the people financing the club (the detested COH) have decided that Souttar is worth it and are prepared to pay the required fee.
Presumably they have a better take on their investments than any of us fans - no matter how much we want to slag them off?
