I think Rothwell could play further forward. He had 3 shots in about 2 seconds other day. Then a 4th blazed over the bar 5mins later.
Many of our midfield didn't manage 3 shots a month last season.

Midfielders not afraid to shoot is something we've lacked for years
Most arnt afraid to shoot, their just shit at it.

Can see it, don't hate it.

Baptist / McGuiness as CB cover, Burrows/RND as McCallum cover, Doherty covering Seriki, Peck (may be off), Blaster, Jairo as competition/cover for Philips and Rothwell, need a LW/LM to replace Òne, Campbell and Cannon cover for Bamford and Donovan cover for Chong.

I’d have any of those midfielders in before Rothwell, unimpressed so far
If peck stays place is his imo

With this signing it does seem to indicate that Peck is likely to be going. The only faint glimmer of hope I could potentially see is the return of the three man midfield 🤔 in that case 5 would be and adequate number.

Saddens me to say it but I think peck is going. His sale should plug most of the gap. Sadly then thats 3 best assets gone and 2 loans to cover them. You never know we might be ok this season, might, but it'll really bite next year when weve sod all assets left

I the past , obviously didn't go as planned but they were in the prem ,we aren't
Go back further he was England's main man .that's why it's best not to dwell in the past
So we're going further back when he was England's main man, but we're not to dwell in the past? He's no form for c.4 seasons, we just seem to be hoping something can be rekindled; be great if he can, but I ain't convinced

Waiting on medical....well that could scupper it.

We've already got 4 competent CMs so makes little sense if we are cash strapped as its our strongest position.
Please dont let this mean Peck is going.
Tom Davies and numerous others have passed our medical. I think our medical consists of walking through the door and signing a bit of paper.

Another Wilder 'ego signing' that we don't really need as a priority position, no matter what the cost of the wages and signing fee.

Yet he still see's Cannon, one of the most ineffectual players ever to wear a blades shirt, as "playing a huge part" in our future. His own ego won't allow him to admit he spunked £7-10million on a 'doormat' player that can't finish. And we can all see it Chris!

Peck would be very wise to get out of this club at his earliest opportunity. A quality coach will take him to the next level. This club under these owners and manager are going nowhere.

Agreed, in his pre-match presser after Mansfield, he kept mentioning how he owes us and Micky Collins for helping him to become the player he is today and he feels that he needs to give back to the club to repay the faith in a way. Realistically if Blaster hadn't have got injured, I wonder how many minutes he would have played. He is a quality player, but will do better with quality around him, at the moment he is one of the 1st names on the team sheet, similar to Berge, when at us, he was good but didn't properly shine until he had Premier League quality around him at Fulham. I think if we can get a sensible offer in from Brentford for Peck, that would be a good club for him to be at and although it would be a shame to lose him, I can see him progressing there. There isn't any point in joining West Ham to play at least 1 season worth of Championship football again unless they are offering crazy money.

You’d think we don’t need him, but obviously someone has to be on their way out if Wilder’s gone all out for this. Bye Peck. What a joke of a club these owners and manager have turned us in to.

I think peck will leave. Real shame as I thought his performance against Mansfield was excellent, and his most assured confident performance yet. Real shame, but Arblaster’s quick precise ball over the top for the 3rd goal tells me he still has got something to work with, and between Phillips Rothwell and Jairo they will work well I believe.

If wet scam come and place between £15-20m on table and it completely secures our financial safety that become nigh on impossible to turn down, and after seeing what happened to pigs last season, I’m happy to sell if it confirms our financial stability.

Only questions is what the hell have we done with our money that teams like Bristol, Norwich and stoke can throw money around but we have to manoeuvre like this even after a recent takeover and 3 prem seasons in last 7.

What's wilder done other than get us to a playoff final and then getting sacked and then coming back to a crap inflated squad? And who says peck is going anywhere? Lots of rumours were flying around but seemed to have died down now?

Good balance there and great back ups
I agree.

If he sticks around, then I think we can get more out of Peck if he gets a bit more licence to play further forward. Likewise Arblaster if he's pretty much fit and firing.

One last good season from Peck and he'll get a better gig than a relegated Championship club.

Wilder said last season that we had a bloated squad. We've perhaps gone a bit too far the other way to start with but if he's got 22/23 outfield players that he can trust come the end of August, having a few fluid combinations could be good for us. Also gives the option for some different formations in the midfield

Phillips and Jairo providing the defensive options, Rothwell/Blaster doing the dictating and Peck can do a bit of everything.

It's also a case of one of them stepping up and providing 7 or 8 goals from midfield and being given a bit of creative licence like Gus had but without the lack of fitness or number of bookings.
