Cant remember the last time we sold out a televised 1st round away fixture (Silent Blade ?)

Credit to the EFL for once, would have been a different story at 7.45 on a Tuesday night.

I'm sorry but opening game of the season being EFL Cup is ridiculous.
I think it's probably a good idea. A competitive fixture before league starts, whilst also highlighting the massively faded League Cup competition.

its looking at quick glance that most games today are 50-60% up on last season round 1

When we played Rotherham in pre season they looked terrible and United looked slightly better. Rotherham today still look terrible but WBA look levels and levels above. Norwich with Brooks looked slick. Last night Boro and Wrexham both had pace and guile. It’s getting hard to think which teams we will be better than.
I’d say it’s vital the owners take advice now and invest otherwise their investment is going to be worth FA.
Minimum we need is a CB, athletic ball player in midfield and a striker ideally with height or pace or both.
Pre season so far has shown how one paced we are.

Sorry to burst any hope you have of a atheltic ball player or a striker with height & pace but we wont be getting anything of the sort in.

We are looking at x2 cbs and a lw and Phillips for cm... that will be our lot if we even recruit at all.

Sadly I think you are right. To lose all creativity with the parting of Brooks and Gus is a real kick in the bollox to us all.
It really feels like last years abysmal transfer window has done these owners in.
You can tell Wilder wants to moan but knows he has to hold his tongue.
When he said ‘ he knows exactly what’s needed’ I was hopeful but fraid this season is going to be a huge struggle.
We have no creativity, no pace , it’s so obvious.

Another season where we are starting it weaker than we finished. And another where we sell our best player (cheap) yet again a week before it starts.

Why cant we be a half decent run club just for a change? Always same type of owners.

It is obvious you dont understand the SCR rules

I think this league cup on the weekend is here to stay. if anything expanded maybe the 1st 2 rounds. look at Mansfield today. their average league attendance is around 7,500 - 8,000. & Mansfield got 6,200 today. for a game that if it happened next Tuesday would've been 2,000 - 2,500

the clubs are going to want to cash in on that.

Never looked at it like that but you make a very good point.

The draw for the second round takes place tomorrow night at 19:20 by the way.

Shame, Blackburn is one of those places I’ve sworn off going after two miserable trips there. Still be nice to go through if we can

Favorable tie that we could and should beat to get a cup run going but we know what type of team he will put out, annoying really.

Weve not had a decent cup run or give it ago for a long time 3 or 4 years ago?

Most teams have a decent cup run every 20 years, it's remarkable how often we have given our level in recent decades.

United's second round Carabao Cup tie at Blackburn Rovers now has a date and kick-off time.
After defeating Nigel Clough's Mansfield Town in the first round, the Blades will now face fellow Championship side Blackburn at Ewood Park on Tuesday 25th August, kick-off 7.45pm.
Tony Mowbray's side advanced to this stage after defeating Burton Albion in the first round.

Ticket details to follow in due course.
