Player Suggestion Souttar played and scored last night

Think Leicester are heading for another points deduction as their wage bill must still be way over the limit as they still have not off loaded that many from last season. They probably don’t care & are gambling that they can blitz League 1 and absorb even a 6 pt deduction. So we regrettably need to forget Souttar - Leicester won’t sell him for any less than £10 million & frankly given his recent injury I would be paying more than £5 million.
The financial issue their in means that they need to sell at top dollar. They can’t afford to let people out on cheap deals even if it frees up some wages.

Weird how a club can hold firm and not just have its belly tickled because a player wants away.

Our lot could learn something there. We won’t though.

Holding firm over Hamer would have been good, even better had we just looked to do a trade and get a player in return off Coventry.

I get where you’re coming from, however, prior to this season we have. Leeds desperately wanted Hamer a couple of years ago and we kept hold of him.

Our issue is we don’t get top value because we sell them in their final year of contract.

We’ve done well out of a few in recent years & the bad ones have been Ndiaye, Hamer, Berge, Bogle all in their final years

If it goes through at the sort of money being suggested then we are straight into the old Canon / Brewster territory and we know where that ends with a section of our supporters.
Which, let’s be honest, is entirely justified. We have limited resources, when we spend big on one player we need to see a return on the pitch commensurate with the fee. If we don’t, why shouldn’t questions be asked?

Our fans base IQ is pretty low isnt it.....
Prior to Hamer going everyone kicking off saying we should be throwing money at Souttar, we need to get it done, stop pissing about... in before Hamer goes as a statement.... 10m for souttar is worth it etc etc.
Didnt happen, Hamer gone... 8m bid in... everyone on here saying too much, not good enough, big risk, better players for the money..

We get Souttar in and weve got argubly onr of the best defences in the league. Too many FM people spouting shit.

I rate souttar but not at any price as we still need more if he comes in. I am not sure sinking it all on one player is wise even if he's a unique player where there isn't a obvious like for like

We probably had about 5m to spend on transfers before Hamer went. Probably about 10m max now. That isnt including the loans and free players. I doubt its 8m + add ons. Probably 6m like Hamer plus the add ons.

If and it's still very much an if, we've had 8 mill rejected, then at least that's that and we can move on.

Just the matter of if we've got other targets that are beyond the monitoring stage.

Here we go… Didn't realise it would be quite so soon!
Nothing like Brewster!!
About a third the price and an established and mature international player who has actually played very well for us a couple of seasons ago.
If his performances turn the fortunes of the club around he'll have been worth every penny if he does break down, our stalwart supporters can gnash their teeth and wail "we're doomed, we're doomed" while suggesting that only they know who to buy and how much we'd have to pay.

Moaning bastards. Criticise the club for standing still, and then when they do attempt to spend money, it’s the wrong player.

Just because we’ve had issues before, doesn’t mean every fucking time. The same as branding every manager who’s forrun as some Selles clone.

We’re such an insular, stuck in our ways fanbase, epitomises the club.
Who has said Souttar is the wrong player? He would be a good signing for us, but not at any price. We clearly have a very limited budget, so spending most of it on one player doesn't seem like the best use of it.

If we don't end up signing Souttar does this not suggest that we should still expect 8m ish worth of kitty that could still be used?

Agree with most of that, still think the point stands though. I'm not one who has that perspective but all you need to do is look through the threads, it won't take you long
To find “supporters” turning on our more expensive signings. It's a hell a lot
of pressure to put on a lad who seems to be having his value increased arridicially through our bids and the media. Would I like to see him at the blades - of course, at the right price for someone who has had such a serious injury.
