Hamer leaves for 6m... we are trying to get Souttar for a realistic price, whilst Leicester are wanting more as they are fucked financially more than we are.

Seeing that we sell Hamer there going to hope for the money they want... Us saying Hamer funds are not going to go towards transfer money isn't a bad tactic. Why would we come and say woo! 6m in the transfer kitty now .

We may go back in for 1 more bid in Souttar and move on if not.

I feel down on United full stop right now but this is all very depressing and just shows how badly United have squandered our PL opportunities.

Great post but as things stand even I'm pretty pessimistic on this seasons chances of success and I'm generally very positive. Having the strongest three relegated sides for many a year doesn't help neither and selling our best two players to be replaced with loans is hardy inspiring.

We can't just rely on loans and frees every season. The permanent signings last season were mixed last summer too of course.

The fact we’ve blown through best part of half a billion pounds in premier league and TV money over the last decade or so and have so little to show for it that newly promoted Coventry are a much more attractive prospect than we are

To give some context, the winger who starred for Egypt is in the last year of his contract.

He’s about to join Celtic. He’s 24 and he’s just done excellently on the world stage.

They are paying €6m + €2m.

A more novel idea would be for Bettis and Scheiber to stop letting key players run their contracts down to one year.

Either with 2 years left all parties agree to extend or you sell to maximise the value.

We seem to be very reactionary at given out new deals.

And that’s the worry for me. Selling assets is one thing ( most clubs have to do it) but then replacing them with loans generally means one thing. The result tends to be a spiral downwards

Having ruminated on this for a while it’s in line with my expectations.

As has been said above, we've got a ~£30m cashflow hole to fill next season.

£5m of that will come through wages from players released on frees- Davies, Ings, Mee
£10m will come through selling Hamer (fee + saved wages)

That leaves £15m which, sadly, will have to come through selling one or more of the academy graduates. Peck is the most likely to attract bids at the required level and Wilder and his team will believe that Arblaster will be in a position, come August, to step back up to a decent level.

I reckon we’ve still got a £5m shortfall. Selling Peck for £10-15m is the key as that gives is the funds to reinvest.
