Outgoing? Hamer

Think this is spot on.

He’s made some sly digs here & there at the board but none on the scale you’d expect for how poor this summer has been. They’ve somehow given him a new contract & he knows he won’t get a top end Champ job again, so I think he’ll just wait it out with uninterested owners until we finally move on from him.
Also until the article this week I noticed the Danny Hall propaganda machine had gone quiet and he wasn’t rocking the boat either. I guarantee we’d have had a new article every few days about the board / manager being underprepared if Selles were still here.

If we're as skint as we seem, we shouldn't just accept any offer we get for him so it's over and done with, we need the highest possible fee. If that means long negotiations, so be it.

Then you have him on the wage bill which I can only presume is rather high as we signed him when in the prem. And do we want to lose him for free next summer?

I'm not suggesting we don't sell him, just that we don't jump at lowball offers from clubs with plenty of money to spend. It takes time to negotiate good deals.

If Gus is that keen to leave then he can pop a transfer request in and forgo his share of the Transfer fee- and go with best wishes

The enormity of SUFC's current situation has kicked in. Not blaming the manager for the financial pressure the club is under but it is clearly affecting him. His response to the Hamer question should have been a robust if our valuation isnt met he is staying.

The current failed recruitment structure is being held together with sticking plaster costing the club money. The owners seem oblivious to the damage this is doing. Experienced skilled negotiators to move out the dross and get deals over the line are required. The club would seem to have only a one man band plate spinner in Bettis doing the negotiations with his back up Schieber as gopher.

The only outgoing in recent years where the club significantly benefited was Ramsdale. His sale was allegedly negotiated by third parties from Jordan brought in by PA.

We are going into the last day of the window again where a lack of capable recruitment resources risks burdening the club with more dross. Leaving the existing dross still on the books. Players in the last year of their contracts will be left in limbo with little evidence there is a willingness to initiate contract extension talks. The fact the manager admits pro active contract renegotiation isnt happening at the club speaks volumes.

If ever there was a case for SUFC needing an experienced Director of Football it is now.

Spot on from this Cov fan.

I'm not a huge Wilder fan these days, but I don't think he threw Hamer under the bus at all.

Admitting the player would like to go back to his former club, where he's loved, will earn more and play at a higher level, isn't groundbreaking news to anybody.
A bit of honesty with the fan base is fairly welcome and rare in modern football.

It’s blindingly obvious that we don’t have any money.

The PL money has stopped. We set fire to the best part of 20 million last summer on crap like mcguinness, zaterstrom, matos etc etc. who are already going tk be shipped out for cents on the dollar.

When you add the money wasted on Cannon its no surprise we aren’t being funded.

I like chris as a manager but he talks about ‘Not putting the club at risk’. What was rhe point in the business last jan - we were miles off getting close the the play offs.

But we spend millions on some full back the didnt play, Phillips who physically cant play, rothwell who’s crap. Pointless outlay, same as a waste of a wage on the ancient right back we've signed this year who’s worse than femi

We dont fritter away that money. Maybe we can offer brooks a contract worth his potential.

We could have easily made play offs with clever recruitment

If you heard what he said about seriki as well that is red flag there honestly I expect us losing another 3 or 4 replaced by rubbish that’s how teams go down

This !!!!

I had a long conversation with one of my blade neighbour's over a back garden beer. We came to the same conclusion plus we need a complete reset from Bettis down, if that means a couple of league one seasons so be it, squad overall, stop relying on "last pay day crocks " and invest in the academy and picking up good young talent to bring on and sell on if needed.
We both don't want wilder in charge but will grudgingly support until such time he's replaced
Mark my words if things don't go well by Xmas he'll be blaming everyone else squad, owners, fans for any shortcomings.

But Chris. It seems the better players, you know, the ones with a bit of flair and skill, don’t want to play

But how do we change it? I know I'm gonna get a reaction from certain parts of the fanbase for this, but if CW doesn't achieve this season, how long do we just leave him hanging around here before the damage is irreparable?

The whole presser reeks of someone who is genuinely unsure what to do now. He doesn't seem sure of what squad he wants and who he wants, and we will probably see that by about 3 games in - but if that's the case, what's the next step?

We tried something new with Selles - it didn't work. So do we just keep CW forever? What's the next step?
When you’ve got potless and clueless owners, I’d far rather have a manager who bleeds red and white to fight for the team. The fact that the very first question he faces is about absent owners speaks volumes.

You mean the owners that gave him the funds for Cannon? And gave Selles the funds for the players he wanted?

Absolutely spot on … and let’s face it, selling Gus is the only way we get any wiggle room for incomings.

We could have easily made play offs with clever recruitment

We were miles off it really

You could count the times we’d played well on one had last season.

We should have kept the power dry. A blind man could tell you Phillips was a waste of a wage. Same with that right back from Leeds who was signed with no thought to him contributing in the field.

When was the last time we had clever recruitment- not the same old list of targets window after window.

How many players would we resign again in hindsight over the last 4/5 windows? Cooper, burrows and bamford?? It’s not a long list

I trust Wilder to do what’s best for Utd… I wouldn’t trust these owners to tell me the weather. The Cannon fee came from parachute payments not the owners pockets.

And what about the funding for Selles? Or the ground and training improvements? They just fell out the sky?

The panic was allowing Selles or whoever it was to sanction deals for Mcguinness, Chong, Ings, Mee and even spunking £10m on Tanganga to a certain extent.

Sacking Wilder could have worked, if they'd have brought in a proper DoF and actually had a clear transfer strategy instead of the pure panic that was last summer.
DoF DoF DoF DoF
DoF DoF DoF DoF
DoF DoF DoF DoF
DoF DoF DoF DoF

The panacea that cures all ills.

Miles off it in terms of who.we brought in ?
Or miles off in terms of the play offs ?

When.that midweek.game.v Oxford was postponed.we were right in there and with some clever signings could have easily emulated Southampton

No … they’ve spent some money … but it’s very clear they took a gamble on proMotion and now that we have no parachute payments they are unable to spend much if anything. That being the case I’m very glad we have a Blade in charge of the team.

Apparently according to someone expecting him, burrows,Campbell and peck to go

Last summer. And people shat all over that as well.

Last summer/ year might go down as the worst window in our history

We basically set fire to 19million and followed it up quantity over quality on Jan.

One difference maker could have been added for the price of Jairo, rothwell, Phillips, that Sunderland non entity we signed.

the new owners have been disastrous.
