Been with us since aged 13 after the FURD referral, contracted to 2029 so be a little cash if moved on to one of the French clubs. Although he did have an MCL injury so that's possibly stopped his progress a bit. He needs to get into U21's and from there who knows what he can do.

Nice composed finished on the below so probably see why others are interested.

Pulis took his Dad from Gills to Stoke where he was known as Big Mama and became a cult figure in the same way as Big Dave did at S6, worked hard but a bit limited. Big Mama spent some time on loan at S6 as well, to little effect.

None of which has anything to do with Lamine, he could be a potential world beater for all we know.

Was just about to say the same. Really can’t understand this narrative of us being a club that doesn’t bring youth players through. Look at all the blades academy players playing throughout the prem and football league. I work with fans of other clubs and they all regard us as having a successful academy

We have probably one of the best if not the best Cat 2 academies, I think others must wonder how we have still not got ourselves to Cat 1 status.

You're right and we should be proud of that.

Perhaps the success of the academy has raised expectations such that we automatically think any player on the fringe of the first team should be playing?

However, at the risk of labouring the point, if Monaco and Lyon are genuinely interested in Sidibé, I doubt it's because they intend to play him in their academy sides; it will be because they intend to play him in their first team. And, presumably, if all goes well, sell him on at a big profit.

So if he is considered good enough for Ligue 1, is he not good enough for the Championship?

Not necessarily sure you can say a 18 year old is ready to walk into their sides without playing a game yet! Obviously has some sort of potential though if reports are correct and not agent talk

Different Sidibe families. Lamine at United isn’t related to Mamady who used to play at Stoke.

Cat 1 status requires significant infrastructure changes for us, as Shirecliffe doesn't have the space needed for both the 1st team and the Academy. That's why we've bought the land in Dore, which I believe will be turned into the 1st team training ground with Shirecliffe dedicated to the Academy.

Cat 2 to Cat 1 asks for a big step up in the number of pitches and the amount of building space for all the age groups and I don't believe it was possible to do that incrementally at Shirecliffe, we needed a new piece of land.

Nobody is suggesting that we don’t ever bring players through. We just have a manager who values experience over potential and that is why we have Cannon starting over Oné.

We also have a habit of congratulating ourselves when an academy player comes in and does well without looking at the circumstances. Wilder was forced into playing Peck at the start of 24/25 and Peck took that chance. Shackleton is probably still Wilder’s first choice right back but Seriki has taken advantage of Shackleton’s complete inability to get or stay fit.

The only other academy player to play a decent amount of minutes last season was Brooks and we couldn’t get rid of him quick enough, probably because we’ve got Chongeh as a ready made replacement in the gaffer’s mind.

One and Cannon are probably not out first choice front 2 if we played two up top. Let's see how they get on. One has just turned 20 and has a decent spell in league one behind him. Time to push on for sure.

Shackleton probably his first choice? That's just pulled out of thin air by you.

I guess peck and arblaster don't count as academy players because..?

I think if we had a unlimited budget no manger on earth would go with kids over experienced pros tbh.
 
Apparently he was sent home from the Bochum trip .......

Wouldn't get a round in so wilder banished him from the inner circle

The reality is:

1. There are anti Wilder posts that are rubbish. A good example is that he doesn't bring through young players. Of course, he does.

2. There are also anti Wilder posts that aren't rubbish, and are entirely justified.

The more balanced posters on here recognise this reality. Unfortunately, there are also posters who stupidly label anybody who makes any criticism at all a "Wilder hater". They are every bit as bad as the posters who criticise absolutely everything he does.

Yep and this is one that falls into the pure rubbish category. As do 99% of the ones I respond to
