Lot of money to spend and then to throw 5-10M on hamer who is in the last year of his contract - silly signing for me which is fueled by sentimental value rather than player value or ability.

£10m is a bargain for 3 or 4 years of Hamer, on a very reasonable Premier League wage. A fantastic option for Coventry, whether that's from the bench looking for a goal, or looking for fast starts in matches.

Makes you laugh when you see players like that Harry clarke going for 3/4 million that galbraith going for 10 million to swansea

But the best attacking midfielder in the league isnt worth 10 million , hamer could play till he is 35 at this level

Massive for us to somehow get him to sign a contract would be huge

100% this....also, do we have a realistic chance of promotion? The top two slots are pretty much decided in Wolves & West Ham (I'm sure some will disagree but I can't see any one competing with them two)

Wolves aren't even rated as having better than a one in three shot at top two in the market. Yes they are the second favourites but saying pretty much decided is clearly comical. West Ham are only just over 50% to get one of the two spots.

Ask him if he wants to leave- if not put a new Contract in front of him- is he does tell him to put in a transfer request

I hope he stays but also hope we string SISU City FC out until the window slams shut

I couldn't care less where he goes if we get what we want for him and it helps us strengthen over all.

The current Hamer will give us a few glimpses of magic but if he stays then we have to accept that we may well be light in other areas and will probably concede plenty of opportunities down our left.

I said that other day. If he wants PL football again, he has 3 choices/chances:

  1. Hull
  2. Coventry
  3. United
He'd be better off going to Netherlands or Serie A if he wants to play at the top end of a top flight, because he's not going to be a top-10 PL player
Matt , Matt , Matt ,
Number 1 ? Surely it's gotta be 2 ,
a pair
And is that our Lucy ?
😍

Inevitable that he goes now I suspect.

Fee will fall somewhere in the £6m to £7m bracket with add ons of a further £2m/ £3m.

The views of sections of our fan base on this player are incredibly naive !!

UTB
Yep naive, but we also know United and they are well capable of cashing in @ 3 million which just be insane. We are useless at negotiating in or out.

would anyone swap for simms
Think we need 2 more wingers regardless if Hamer leaves or not. I want Hamer in the middle if he stays. If he does leave we have to look at another creative player to compete with O Hare.
If we lost a striker then Simms would be an option pretty high on list I would imagine.

He's got one year left on his contract.
He can't last more than 60 minutes at THIS level.
If he stays great, he is an asset.
But I very much doubt we'll get more than £5 million for him.
Anything less say fuck off. £5 million or more, snatch their hand off.
