Thought I would dig up the side I saw play the first official game at the new wembley back in 2007

Someone did a ten years on how they did list for me!

2 of the starters were decent internationals eventually and 3 of the subs.

Players like that Rio at Liverpool will likely jump directly into the main side without really bothering with the u21s!

Is your point that being involved is no guarantee for major success? Sure, accept that. But again, how many never make the cut at ANY level, for the national teams only to fade into obscurity? A number dramatically higher then my 400 guestimate for those actually involved in the pro pyramid. Can't help but think being involved with the final rung before the men's game is a pretty good indicator that you're doing something right.

Clearly, your point also suggests that just because a player is good enough at 20/21, there's still a hell of a lot of work to be done and an equal amount of things that have to go right before a player is considered Elite.

For me, I'm happy to let International involvement for an academy player be something to be exited about.

West Ham are selling Potts for 12 million, seems a bit of a sideways move as he's similar style to Sydie and only a couple of years older with Premier League experience. Unless it's the pure profit as he's a homegrown player for them.

Would hate to Sydie leave as this could be his breakout year in so far as goals and assists. But if we don't go up, this would definitely be his last season with us. Hopefully we repel all bids....except "the offers we can't refuse!!!"

Quite a few actually. This is the U21 Euro 2025 winners squad.

Goalkeepers: James Beadle, Teddy Sharman-Lowe, Tommy Simkin

Defenders: Charlie Cresswell, Ronnie Edwards, CJ Egan-Riley, Tino Livramento, Brooke Norton Cuffy, Jarell Quansah

Midfielders: Elliot Anderson, Jobe Bellingham, Archie Gray, Hayden Hackney, Jack Hinshelwood, Tyler Morton, Alex Scott

Forwards: Harvey Elliott, Omari Hutchinson, Sam Iling Jnr, James McAtee, Ethan Nwaneri, Jonathan Rowe, Jay Stansfield.
The big stand out there is the lack of a proper number 9 to eventually replace Kane/Watkins/Toney etc. All seem to be number 10s or wide forwards.

Being part of the England U21's is a pretty good metric for the 'clamour'. Literally one of the best at his age in the country.

Francis Jeffers once held the record for most goals scored for England Under 21s, so it's not always a sign of potential greatness!!

He shows nothing to say he'll have a good season attacking wise. That's what's wrong with our centre midfield options. They are all one dimensional.

I am absolutely fine with Peck going.
I like him, his character is fantastic (on the pitch) but he'll never be worth more than he is right now. We have 3 similar midfielders to him, and he doesnt contribute in either boxes enough for me.
I'd rather him go for £15m now and it fund a few wingers/strikers than him be here until the and of the window or January

Agree, but can't see us getting anywhere near £15m

If that sort of money was offered then it would be hard to turn down.

He’s average but still the best we have so unless it’s 15 mill I wouldn’t sell. Rothwell yesterday was so immobile it’s quite frightening he’s any where near the team but sadly just like Cannon the expenditure deems we must repeat giving them a chance time after time.

Giro is better and maybe Arblaster? 🤔

I'd snap their hand off for £15m!

Peck is decent, but in the games I've seen him play, he doesn't seem to add much in terms of goal involvements.

Even Google ai is baffled. I asked it how many goal involvements he had in the 25/26 season as. It replies 5 goals, 4 assists. I thought this sounded a bit odd. Thought I'd humour it and ask if this was a good output:

That’s been my view for a while. He’s a good championship player that will depreciate in value as he gets older, £12m to me seems the price where it becomes worth it.

If we want to have a pop at promotion but still need to raise money, then sell Peck (or Oné), and keep Hamer

Prioritise cash up front over a sell on clause - I don't think he'll ever go for more than whatever we can get now

Replace him with someone who can run and play 40 games
Agree, apart from the Oné bit...
