Who would only have had 94, and would have been behind us if we'd beaten them twice, but in truth we never looked like beating them because we were miles behind in terms of fitness, organisation, and aggression .

In fact if we had beaten Leeds once, Burnley once, and Blackburn on the final day (which I'm sure we would have if we'd needed to) then we would have been promoted as champions.

Unfortunately my first statement got in the way of the second.

I’d say I’d be surprised if Southampton sold him so soon after buying him!

I’d say Hamer is one of the top 3 in the division. Dobbin isn’t, yet.

That said it is all about how we look on September 1st.

But players like Hamer are very hard to replace though he isn’t a conventional left midfielder. Brereton-Diaz does at least put some numbers on the board. If he is the one to come in. It’s clear Saints don’t want him so I wouldn’t be throwing much their way. Rather I’d be telling then we’ll take him off their hands, though Derby may want him to that puts a potential scanner in the works.
