It looks like Jannik Vestergaard is currently in advanced talks with Leicester City to terminate his contract by mutual consent, allowing him to leave the club immediately as a free agent.

All my own words, no copy paste. Promise 😉

We like a relegated Centre half, don’t we?

Played 31 times last year. Of a build they might get the best from Tanganga.

He’s even 1cm taller than Souttar at 1.99m!

He managed a high average FotMob player rating of 7.28, which ranked him highly among tier-two centre-backs.

Scored against the Pigs and Wrexham. Surely that is a plus!

Maybe Adam Webster from Brighton?
Didn't play a single game last season.

Following his long injury lay-off, Brighton mutually agreed not to trigger his contract extension. Webster officially left the Amex Stadium as a free agent when his contract expired. He is currently finishing his medical rehab at Brighton's facilities while searching for a new club.

ACL. Not ideal.

Ah fair so right up our alley then 😂 Didn’t know about those injury issues just thought he got dropped as there was no way he were getting picked over Van hecke and the other kid 😂

Vestergaard is awful, his centre back partnership with Faes was one of the worst I've ever seen, yes he's OK, ish, in the championship, but he's 34 in August, surely we can do better
7.28 rating on the Fotmob, apparently.

That suggests he wasn’t all that bad.

But we’re not taking ideal here.

We’re talking what we may need to consider given we don’t know how brassic these owners are.

Attend or watch a match on TV and compare your view to Fotmob's. You'll realise their marks are not worth a jot.

Axel Tuanzebe is apparently a free agent again.

Thing about Vestergaard is that when Souttar came back in for the last few matches of Leicesters season their fans saw what they could have had last season at centre half.
Which shows you how much a downgrade he might be. Not saying it's Souttar or no-one but I think there are better options to explore.

Very real possibility that if he had not been injured for pretty much all season they might have scraped a few more points to stay up. Just like had he not picked up that injury for us I feel we would have at least ran Leeds/Burnley closer. His involvement in an absolute resolute defence was what was making a big difference pre-christmas.

Vestergaard is past it, has a honking attitude and turns like a truck. The prospect of him and McGuinness together at the back is the stuff of nightmares.

Vestergaard was a decent player but he was awful when I saw him last season

I go on what you see, just my opinion that's all

One of those players that I watch on TV and just think 'he's always got a mistake in him every game'.

What a career he's had for someone of such limited ability.

Never seen the fuss with Dike. Grant plays off the left a bit so be surprised if we aren’t having a look at him. Maja still living off his spell at Sunderland

Yep, my Sunderland supporting colleague was saying (at the time) that this lad was the business, and I guess he was, for a short spell.

Not saying he can't come good again, at 27, but not sure he is worth the risk.

As long as we have Cannon cluttering the place up then signing an additional forward who could be useful like Grant is probably off the table
I’m just not a fan of players who have no real outstanding attribute and Cannon sums that up well.

Bamford, decent in the air, can lead the line on his own. He’s a clever player and a better than average finisher.

Oné, whilst it’s early days to judge at this level, he is physically strong, has pace and can run with the ball and decent in the air.

Campbell I find moderately paced, probably deceptively quick over short distances, probably our most clinical finisher in terms of shots on target.

Cannon, I simply don’t see an outstanding attribute you can build around.

We seem to be constantly hoping he’ll come good and I’m struggling to see how.

If we could get 5m from someone I’d snap their hand off!

It's pathetic how we keep pretending he's a proper player, a viable forward option, held hostage by his fee. Give him number 9, play him off the left, fully factor him into our thinking in every way. And for what? We aren't salvaging his fee no matter what. The only option is to cut losses and stop letting him be an obstacle to the sort of forward line we want to build

He can twat the ball really hard. Unfortunately it's usually into the Kop.

Would feel confident that Cannon is one of the best finishers on the training ground. But if it's ever going to work for us, we'd need the management and tactics to give him regular scoring opportunities.
