I was reading one of the sleeves on my 120 year celebration shirt on the train yesterday and saw the name Ken Monkou. I know my memory is going but I would have bet good money that he had never played for us.

My record books are not accessible at present. Can someone (darren?) provide the details.

Cheers, WB

Erm what? If he did, i must have blinked and missed it. Maybe he signed on loan when nobody noticed??

wardonia_blade - according to the SUFC Who's Who, he's not listed in there. Await confirmation from Darren.

I've seen his name on that shirt as well. I asked the same question, don't remember him playing for us.

According to wiki he played for Feyenoord, Chelsea, Southampton and Huddersfield. I remember him at all this English clubs. No mention of him playing for the Blades.....unless it's a different Ken Monkou?!

If they produce a shirt with the names of all the triallists we've ever had, I am definitely buying one.

When does it go on sale ?

Strange. Maybe he came on as sub in the WhoLetTheDogsOut Steel City Charity Challenge Shield Community Cup against Stocksbridge Park Steels.

Are Mel Shitland and Sean Bean on the shirt too? I'm sure i've seen those play in our kit. :(

Regardless, the chances of us getting Adidas to do something like this for Sheffield Utd is very slim indeed.

I didn't waste money on that crap, just got a t-shirt from sports direct and Tippex-ed the names on myself. Unfortunately, I ran out of space when I got to David Barnes, but at least I saved some cash.

And it probably looked better too!

Is Alan Whittle on there? Didn't we sign him and then send him back when his medical showed up a heart problem? Good job they saved the receipt...

Close anyway ...:)

Olivier Bernard was also on trial once and he is included in the shirt. As is Steve Howey!

Indeed - saw both of them. Bernard in our Greenock Morton friendly in 2006 (same day we had a bid accepted for Hulse I think) and Howey played in a friendly at Tavistock in 2004 - the same game that Noel Whelan came on, Ian Ross missed a penalty, and Tony Daley made a surprise appearance. Were Whelan and Daley on the shirt too?
