Manchester. Price went up £60 from when we first looked an hour before we eventually bought them.Flying from where mate?
If it helps..
Dusseldorf has a lovely old centre by the Rhine ('Altstadt'). Proper beer kelkers where the waiters bring more glasses and mark your beer mat.
It is also one of the best connected airports in Germany, so you can fly from anywhere. There is an excellent local S-bahn (tram) system, plus good overland train connections. The only problem is that it has a massive exhibition centre (think NEC with bells on), so flight and hotel prices tend to rise when there's a big event on.
Folks - as others have said, either don’t look before you intend to book, or use a VPN / Incognito. The market isn’t responding to the announcement of a Blades friendly fixture, or to supply and demand, the websites are simply reacting to your ongoing interest in booking.Manchester. Cheers for thatIf you're looking at that, then you might also want to consider what I've done for games in NRW before and take the overnight Harwich-Hook boat. Can get a combined ticket that rolls up train to the boat from anywhere that Greater Anglia serves (closest to Sheffield I guess would be Peterborough) and the crossing, it's not quite the bargain it used to be after NS pulled out of chucking on onward travel to any Dutch station but compared to how much Eurostar can be these days it's still not bad, especially if there's more than one of you to chop the cabin. Saves one hotel night and you can be anywhere in the Netherlands by about 11am.
You not confusing that with Köln? It's not occasionally referred to as Messestadt for no reason, although to be fair most big cities will have something that can hold big events like you describe

Indeed. And I’m on the wrong end of ‘dynamic’ hotel pricing every November when I attend Medica. No I'm not confusing it, There are several large exhibition centres in German ('Messe') and Dusseldorf is one of the largest.
Ferry to Holland and then a drive is also an option.Where has everyone looked for flights? Tried looking this morning and all direct flights from local airports are showing fully booked?
