I have a hunch that Lyle Taylor will score a hatful of goals next season for Scunthorpe. They always seem to have a prolific striker who gets twenty plus goals, Beckford, Keogh, Sharp, Paterson, Hooper and Winnall and this season I suspect Taylor will continue the trend.

With the difficulty we seem to be having in finding a goalscorer I fear letting him go could have been a little premature, he has the physical presence, speed, touch and industry to be just what we're after. I don't know if there was something about him that just didn't fit in, but on the face of it he wasn't really given a chance after his loan spell.

Personally, I'd have liked him to have still been here, I just hope NC has got it right, time will tell?

I know what your saying but in a united shirt he was useless. We could keep a lot of crap for fear of them going elsewhere and scoring a hatfull but you've got to go with what you see in front of you. Brandy is a good example, he could have been a good player but turned out to be a disaster but who's to say he won't shine next season , I for one won't miss him either way. As for Taylor, he never showed me a reason to believe he'll ever be a goalscorer, for anyone

I would've liked Clough give him a chance but it wasn't to be.

He was useless in a united shirt but so was Murphy until NC turned up

Suffice to say I agree completely.

Strange getting rid of our only attacker with any real pace.It will be all right though, wev'e still got Porter:rolleyes::eek::(

Lyle Taylor is just getting better and better since we got rid of him for having none of the qualities he now has in abundance....

How odd. Perhaps it's the Bladesfans' Way?
What a daft thing to say.

No one knows that he is getting better.

Sarcasm does not become you sir

Nay Wiz, Taylor had pace? Not from my perspective. He was distinctly average for us as I fear McNulty may well turn out.
McNulty hasnt impressed me yet. He isnt an out and out striker. For the time being I see him being on bench for a good number of games unless we are hit by injuries/suspensions

there is zero evidence that Taylor will get better.
Since 2007 he has had 12 clubs including loan periods. Eddie Howe signed him to Bournemouth and he knows a thing or too about players but did nothing there with Howe coaching him.

He's just a journey man footballer who can't settle. He seemed to have an attitude issue at BDTBL and if the alleged rumour is true that he turned down NC offer of extra training because he was having a tattoo in the afternoon instead, then good riddance to him.

Yes he might score for Scunny against us - so what - Scunny are one of our bogie teams anyway.

Ffw 40 seconds in, he's turned into Carl Lewis now:

Exactly what I fear most Blades fans have missed about this lad Bergen.

I suspect he does indeed have that X factor.

It's a hunch and we never really saw any of it when he was with us, which might say more about us than it does of the player. Wouldn't be the first time!! Or maybe just wrong place wrong time.

It will be very interesting to watch from a distance how he does get on.

I thought he was decent when he came on away at Coventry and almost rescued a point for us in that match. I wish he had been brought on sooner to be honest.

I think he will do alright on Scunthorpe and I think we might have been a bit hasty getting rid of him. That said if he did have a poor attitude then he was never going to be given much time by Clough.

Taylor definately has pace LSF,we just never used him right imo. What i don't like is we get rid of Taylor and Miller and don't have anyone in place to take their positions.I'm not saying there world beaters but atleast they would have given us an option. He got rid of Miller because of fitness isues, yet signs Wallace who doesn't look like he's got no where near a full match in him yet, hmm.

I guess we'll beg to differ on that one mate. All professional footballers have a semblance of pace, some just have more than others. I saw no evidence of extra pace in Taylor, plus his touch was a bit 'Montyesque'.
No doubt he'll be a worldbeater with the Irons! ;)

Beckford?

Jermaine Paul Alexander Beckford (born 9 December 1983) is an English-born Jamaican international footballer who plays for Bolton Wanderers. For the benefit of Ashtonmashton who seems to have little or no knowledge of his CV, he started his career as a trainee at Chelsea. Beckford has also played for Wealdstone, Uxbridge, Carlisle United, Scunthorpe United, Leeds United and Everton. He has also received international caps for Jamaica, believe it or not.

Im sad he's gone mainly as we have got rid of a lot of forwards and not replaced them. Only McNulty has come in during the transfer window which worries me. Getting rid of Miller and Brandy might be a mistake aswell, but i still trust Clough and hope that the squad we have will do well. We can have these conversations again on here when more of the season is gone and hopefully wont be worrying about the players that have gone but will be happy with the performance of the players we have got.

While Mr Taylor , Miller ( who I liked ) ,
and shandy who may for this season only , be playing above us in the championship ,
season after next they'll all be playing below us , Toytown tramps will be relegated may start well like Yeovil did , but same will happen to them , relegated by end of season .
Taylor May think he has a point to prove so what ? maybe Scunnie are the size of club that suits him best ,
Small & Shiite , they could do us twice , but we'll still go up , and he'll still be in this league .
Along with Billy big bollox Shandy .

Yes I know Jermaine Beckford, I just never knew he played for Scunthrope. I am terribly sorry old chap

Oh think nothing of it, however perhaps in future to avoid any confusion, might I suggest you put, "Jermaine Beckford, I didn't realise he'd played for Scunthorpe until I spent ten seconds looking it up" as opposed to just "Beckford?" which is open to misinterpretation and just slightly suggestive that you believe the poster to be talking bollocks?

Anyway, no hard feelings young fella me lad.

Just a quick update on Lyle "the secret worldbeater" Taylor; he has been dropped for the last few games by Scunthorpe, favouring Gary McSheffrey instead.

Anybody still mourning?
