CW has said he wants to trim the squad down to 23/24 players next season. He has stated he wants to bring in experience, these are the players I think we could realistically see come in…


RB - K.Walker (Free)

If reports of him being available for free with Burnley being relegated are true, he would bring great experience and leadership which we desperately need.


CB - D.Fry (Free)

Contract expiring at Boro’ - has worked with CW before, championship experience and leadership qualities, having been Boro’ captain numerous times.


CB - H.Souttar

Would love Big H back. Looked good for Leicester towards the end of the season. Hopefully his injury hasn’t affected him too much. He will be going to the world cup so can keep an eye on him there.


CM - K.Phillips (Loan)

After CW’s press conference a few weeks back, it seems a forgone conclusion that we will be trying to get Phillips back next season.


LM - R.Cleary

With no left sided winger in the squad I think this will be our “big” signing of the summer. Was reportedly very close to joining in the JTW and wouldnt be suprised to see us pursue him again.


LM - L.Dobbin (Loan)

Scored in the recent 2-3 loss at home. Shortly after it was reported by Danny Hall that he is on our shortlist of left wingers. Has the pace and directness we lack on the opposite side of Brooksy.


ST - E.Simms (Loan)

Theres been a few articles stating our intrest in him (Yorkshire post). Doesn’t really get near Coventry’s best XI and certainly wont in the Prem next season.



Think next season we will be pushing for a top 10 finish with a hope at sneaking in a play off spot (top 8)

I wouldn't be surprised to see Baptists given a look in pre season and he may well force Gus way into the team/squad. I think Wilder may well give Chong a chance too in preseason to see how he does because we need a winger or two anyway and he's under contract for another three seasons. We'd definitely make a big loss if he was sold now.

A few Rovrum fans I know said Baptiste started the season well but inevitably got dragged down with the rest of the dross.

Does look a good athlete and before this season would have said Tanganga would have been a perfect player to learn from but based on how he has played I wouldnt be taking any pointers from him

Chong will probably be around the squad as we will struggle to get him out. Seen probably 30/40 decent minutes from him all season long and doesnt strike me as the sort of character CW will be after

It’ll be Fry, Phillips, Dunne, Cleary, Walker possibly Dobbin and Simms. We’ll lose Seriki, Brooks, Peck, Hamer, Oné.

All in all a predictable window (signings we’ve previously been interested in). Can’t wait!

Yeah, that is fine. But this season is different from those. In those seasons, we had a realistic chance of promoting. This season, I don't think we do. It's entirely situational - if an extremely serious playoff push is not realistic, we ought to be bringing our own young players (be it those we have, or those we might buy) on, not others.

If Sky blues come in for Hamer, could possibly see Simms as part of the deal. All depends on how they recruit if they dare to spend the cash, same goes for tractor boys.
