In years to come I suspect this season will be a bit of a blur, except for the Selles failure. I'd say we have had plenty of excitement in recent seasons, promotion campaigns, relegations, Cup Semi finals and the Premier League.
I'd say this is our most forgettable season since 2012 and 2013. Danny Wilson was manag for most of it, the football was dull and it ended up with a very poor promotion playoff defeat at Yeovil.
Hopefully we'll return to having memorable seasons next year (for the right reasons!).

I’d probably go for the Adkins 2015/16 season where we finished 11th in League One. In the 2012/13 season we beat Bournemouth away to go top on the 23rd February, we just fell away badly at the end after replacing Nick Blackman with Jon Forte.

Yes this has been a bad one, mainly for the number of losses, and the inexcusable self-destructive ways we engineered them.
Couple of highlights in the Wednesday victories, but overall not quite as dreary as the last Atkins season.
Mid-table League One is pretty grim.
Oh and yes those playoff defeats to Yeovil will be long seared in the memory, as well as all those times we were consistently bummed by friggin’ Scunthorpe.

The early Warnock seasons like like nothing, just signing anyone that was free and would come us finishing midtable year after year.

Remember when Fleetwood Town were one of our bogey teams?

Can anyone call themselves a real football fan if they haven't experienced a loss to all these woeful teams?

I still have nightmares about facing Walsall after they seemed to destroy us every time we played them and their striker Bakayoko randomly turned into Brazilian Ronaldo for 90 minutes…

I partially disagree about the football being dull under Wilson.
In his first season we played some pretty good stuff and Ched Evans was on fire.
Second season, no it wasn't as good, but that isn't surprising given how the squad was down graded. Largely through financial necessity.

I agree in the first season the football was good under Wilson. It wasn't his fault that we were short of strikers particularly after Blackman was sold and I think he was harshly sacked.

I got a season ticket in 13/14, I’d say it’s our most forgettable season in my time by an absolute mile. But we have been a very entertaining team in that time.

Mid table in division 3 isn't anywhere near as bad as relegation to division 4.

But I agree that the Adkins season has to be up there as one of our most dreary seasons.

Probably the season that left me most shocked and traumatized was Mark Stein’s last minute winner that dropped us out the Prem in 1994.
We were so safe until it all went massively to sh1t in the last second.

Over my many years of watching the Blades I have seen us perform very badly over a number of seasons , but in terms of sheer dreariness none compare with that of the Adkins season which was painful to watch .

This was compounded by the absolute bullshit he came out with after virtually every match and which , together with the above , gives him my vote as being our worst manager of all time .

And that’s really saying something .

Yeovil ! Daft innit…Think that was the match I sat next to two blokes who lived in Italy but had made the trip in memory of a Blade who’d evangelised in their village and converted them to Bladeism. They couldn’t believe how quiet the Kop was.

Same here. Weird, I can remember where and with who I was with when the results came in. JFK assassination and 9/11 nowhere near as much trauma. We’re cursed aren’t we !

I remember being on the way back from a Tuesday night at Southend where we’d lost 3-1 and Adkins was on the radio saying we’d been the best side and it was a good performance ‘from his point of view’.

We were dogshit, he played Ben Whiteman at full/wing back and my dad is still angry about that interview 10 years on.

I’d rate it as more interesting than that one but I see your point. We’re a bit spoiled in many ways we’ve been involved since I was able to go to games under my own steam in a double promotion (Bassett) and then some dark tiimes but exciting escapes. Numerous relegation fights, successes for a couple of years. Then a lot of play off heartbreak. Then another relegation. Some more play off heartbreak where we limped in but still the envy of a lot of clubs. Then several more promotion and relegations. We’re a bit spoiled in some ways. Eg Stoke went up and mixed it but have been mid table fodder ever since. So it does feel weird but we were at one point below Wendy! And there was that period where we kept scoring three a game. Which was a revelation in some ways. So yeah, I kind of agree but kind of don’t. Those lost years in league one were worse.

You can call yourself a proper Blade if you watched us totally dominate Scunthorpe United for 90 minutes with us hitting every post, only to watch them go and score 4 goals on the counter with pretty much 4 shots on target.
