Thanks for the memories Gus.

He's been decent. Some memorable goals. It's rare we have a maverick like him so from that point of view it'll leave a hole. He'll do very well to get a Perm move. Maybe Coventry as he's popular there.

Would be a strong upgrade on Eccles if Coventry want him. They know how to play to his strengths.

Great player. Love the way he strikes a ball. Deffo off to a prem club or equivalent in another country. Sad we couldn’t get promoted with him.

Maybe Peck off as well.

Good second half today Utb.
Hopefully we'll get some decent money for him

Chris has made this clear.

He goes. On our terms. Not on the cheap.

The contract situation is an issue but anything less than £5m offered, I reckon we keep him and allow his contract to run down.

More than £6m, maybe £8m he’s gone and represents a bargain for someone.

Proper baller difficult to replace whichever way you cut it.

There have certainly been plenty of moments where, despite the trade offs, you just acknowledge that you have a really talented player there

I do wish there were more players of his type because the game would be more entertaining
Yeah, for all his faults, he's still arguably the best player on the team.

He just needs a bit more consistency and athleticism I think.

He'll do well in a mid table prem side I think.

Always our most likely player. A player other teams fear. Hope he succeeds wherever he goes next. Just not against us!

He needs a proper pre season and some discipline with his fitness.

Great player on his day, moments of magic aplenty but ultimately, in the last third of this season has shown he’s got his downfalls too.

Good luck Gus.

United aren't good enough tactically or ability wise to carry a player who doesn't defend anymore (his defensive stats are 15% or more down per90 on last season) in a 'free role'

United aren't good enough to just throw away a player with 15 goals and 20 assists in 81 Championship appearances.

That is the frustration of a player like Hamer 🤷

I think this would be a bad move by Coventry. We all know that the main qualities you should look for in a player after promotion to the Prem are athleticism, pace and physicality. Hamer ticks none of these boxes. Would make sense from an emotional perspective, but can't see it working out for either party.
If I was Hamer, I'd be looking to move to a top flight club on the continent in a league that gives you more time on the ball. Maybe a club in a European competition.
He's not built for another relegation scrap and should look for somewhere to showcase his undeniable talents.

Yeah he'd excel in the Dutch or Italian league, no doubt about it.

Can see Coventry being interested as he's a very different type of player to Rudoni. More useful outside of the box and from range. Whoever he plays for next, doubt they'll be using him as an inverted winger if they have any sense.

It's been a ridiculous decision to persevere with him on the left this season. He should have been played as a 10 off of the striker. It has made the team imbalanced and left Burrows exposed defensively down our left hand side.

so 500k then 🥺

Quality player especially when in form.

Expect him to go but Wilder seems to suggest nothing is a done deal.

Think alot will hinge on what we think is an appropriate fee now.

Hopefully we'll get some decent money for him
Shame as you could see him playing further forward and taking over form Gus if Arblaster was fit alongside Riedewald.

Let’s see what the summer holds. At least we have some players that have some value.

What nonsense.
With Gus you have to plug his deficiencies.
Has magic in him but don’t be so silly to say that Cov know how to use him.
He can’t even manage a full 90 mins, usually. He also leaves his full back exposed
And he picks up stupid bookings for lazy challenges.

He leaves his full back exposed because he’s lazy, he’s also not a winger, when he were at Cov they played him in CM/CDM where he were the best in the league.

Farewell, what a guy. Scored a few goals I would put up there with the all time best United goals.

It was obvious to me though from the last home game of the season that he would be leaving... Getting an award for 100+ appearances for United. I don't recall this happening to another one of our players. Other than maybe lifetime achievement award type of things. Unless it's a new tradition we are bringing in? (Doubt it)

Good luck Gus and thank you for your exemplary service and leadership through the good times and resilience though difficult circumstances too.

1. Gus Hamer is an upgrade on Josh Eccles. I don't think there's a thinking person alive that would disagree with that.
2. Coventry do know how to use him. He impressed so much playing there we spend £15 million on him.
3. Don't know why you're talking about covering full backs. I clearly said as an alternative to Rudoni, who isn't a winger.
4. How many of our players can last 90 minutes?
5. Chill out a bit yeah?
