Wilder - Get Rid Now, or After Last Game

They're not going to sack him so you just have to hope he's still got something left in him. Having Wilder in charge to navigate the team as you restructure the club is a sound idea. He'll very likely keep us up next season. Pretending everything is alright and he will sort it is doomed to fail

I worry that the only way anything changes is if we go down to be honest. The club needs a wake up call

The last two seasons have been a wake up call for me.
Ekke has eloquently highlighted many issues in his post.
Alarm bells are still ringing but the current decision makers,seemingly, have their fingers in their ears.

I’ve said it before, but his initial success came when we had a team with leaders on the pitch and a lot of quality players with something to prove.

Even back then we hardly seemed to have a plan b, but we were lucky that our players made plan a work so well more often than not.

How much of that success came from Wilder and how much game from having those players at the time?

I’ve questioned before whether that also effected our overall fitness, we had several players back then who openly went above and beyond in terms of getting themselves fit especially between seasons and I’m sure they will have rubbed off on the rest of the squad and driven them all to push themselves.

Take for example a lineup of, Henderson, Baldock, Basham, Egan, Oconnel, Stevens, Norwood, Coutts, Fleck, McGoldrick, Sharp… you could realistically pick 8/9 (if not all) of those to be captain without question, I doubt they needed much motivation from the manager.

Maybe Wilder was great, or maybe he stumbled upon a system that suited the players we had and those players would have run through brick walls for each other.

He hasn’t been able to replicate this kind of team in any of his more recent spells as manager and when he’s been required to be tactically astute he’s been found lacking on many occasions.

It's a thread asking those who want to change managers, when would be the best time to do it, not a thread asking people whether they want to change managers full stop.

It's therefore unlikely to attract many posters who want to keep the manager, because the thread isn't aimed at them, nor does it cater for them.

" inevitable" will depend on the boards ambition,if by the off chance we catch promotion, the spending would have to be huge ,sunderland changed their team almost completly and made a decent start
Leeds didnt change much player wise,doing ok
Burnley changed nothing and as we did got demolished every week
The gulf is huge,parachute payments getting chopped as well

I don't think we could attract him, but would love Liam Rosenior (not his fault Chelsea are a joke) and give him the keys. Smart guy that has already done various very good jobs.

Mark Robins (it's physically impossible to do well at Stoke).

Alex Neill assuming Millwall don't get promoted and his release clause/compensation is very affordable (always seems to get doubted, but clearly an excellent manager).

These are a few of the most obvious, almost uninspiring, choices off the top of my head... That I'd feel better about next season if we appointed one in May or early June.

Sorry Chris, but... I don't think it's happening!? Based on everything we're seeing. Not knee jerk to last night, just generally. Concerns include, among other things, treatment of Brooks and Seriki (arguably our most valuable and promising players), baffling use of attacking players, baffling lack of defensive shape and solidity, lack of cohesion and systems in general. I can't even be bothered to watch anymore, which I've only ever done before in 2021.

I think Rosenior will go back abroad probably. He’ll get offered better projects than us.

Robins, maybe but he’s gone off the boil since he split from Ady Viveash.

I’ve always been quite meh about Alex Neil but he’s got Milwall ticking this season.

I've been in the camp that says it could be worse but I really struggle to see how this is going to get better from here. I've said give him until November but honestly, how have we got this bad from the improved performances we were seeing. My problem (and the main reason for being in the keep Wilder camp) is that I don't trust COH to get it right. This could be the start of one awful journey for us but despite that I'm moving towards thank you for the memories Chris but please do the right thing, let's all move on and if you really love the club don't drain of the money we need to have some chance of a turnaround next season with silly compo demands. I know the anti Wilder brigade will come back with the usual trashing but can we please do it in a way that brings fans together and have us looking forward with some hope to next season.

Isn't that inevitable anyway? We're a million miles away from a promotion squad and the pile of crap we have aren't going to tear their ludicrous deals up. We're looking at a 2-3 year rebuild. I'd snap your hand of for 8th place next season and would sign for guaranteed survival. My guess is lower mid table.

One would hope they're aware of and have acknowledged the recruitment shit show by removing Bord et al.They made themselves look very stupid with their pronouncements on that score after the outcome. The ongoing issue is that they don't seem to have any other plan and they aren't as clever as they made out.
