It seems on twitter today that several blades fans have been threatened by fenerbahce fans with being stabbed or cut. We all know that the turks have a bad reputation for this. It seems nearly everytime an English team play a Turkish team, an English fan is stabbed. I don't know how many are coming over but iam quite concerned about this, I hope SYP will be searching the lot of them before they get anywhere near the lane. Watch yourselves fellow blades. UTB

In a friendly? When most of the proceeds go to a charity in Turkey? I can't see there being much violence.
Won't most of their fans be Brit based Turks too?

that's what I thought but it seems the turks have other ideas.it only needs 1 turk with a knife to cause misery for a blade's family.lets hope its a proper friendly without any rucks

Probably just online bravado. We saw it from numb nuts jodel earlier.

That said, it's always worth being careful

I think the OP shouldn't make more of this than is necessary. If there are Twitter noises to be wary of, can you show this on here? Further more, why not contact Twitter? Presumably it has a policy that deals with this type of graphic and threatening behaviour?

I believe this was a response to a flippant remark someone made about stuffing turkeys as a reply to the SUFC advert.

Far be it from me to suggest that expecting Turkish fans to have a sense of humour about football is rather naive but...

The "stuffing" bit may lose something in translation.

May I humbly suggest that implying that all Turkish football fans are knife wielding maniacs isn't exactly helpful.

So you reckon you should judge English football supporters on the basis of what English hooligans say and do?

Hey... don't start on me, I've got work to do. I just said they lacked a sense of humour about football. Not that they went round stabbing people.

You coming hard on me?*

* As we used to say in the playground when I was 13, with a touching innocence of alternative meanings.

I've never met you. How do I know you exist?

This "top table" phrase. Had you ever heard it applied to hooligans before Cockneyb came along? I imagine some Millwall Firm meeting held in a room above the Co-op where the chair and secretary sit at the top table and read the minutes of the last meeting.

Yes, to my cost. I tried to use the Toptable website to book a romantic, candlelit dinner for me and the wife but we ended up steaming the ICF at Waterloo station instead.

You live and learn.

Did you get a choice of firms and whether you wanted to steam them or front them?
